Myrtle Beach recommendations

Any one have a recommendation for a CG in Myrtle Beach? We have 2 teenagers and 2 ferocious lap dogs. Never been there before. Thanks!

Ditto on Ocean Lakes, they win awards almost every year for best campground. Pirate Land next door to Ocean Lakes is a good choice too.

We stayed at Huntington Beach State Park last week. That is about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, if you want a little more laid back area.

Anyone ever been to Briarcliffe and can offer their experience there? This is a Coast 2 Coast affiliate, and we're thinking of making a trip there in June.

Welcome to Briarcliffe RV Resorts!

You don't have as far to go as we did to get to Murrell's Inlet. I spent around $320 round trip on fuel.

Welcome to Briarcliffe RV Resorts!
It is a very well kept campground. It is not on the beach. You will have to drive to the beach and try to find a place to park. Visit their web site and review the rules before going. It is a nice campground. I did not see many kids while we were there.

Lakewood Camping Resort. We stayed there last year for Thanksgiving and loved it! It's in the same area as Ocean Lakes, Pirate Cove and Myrtle Beach campgrounds. While you're down there, you can easily check out all of them for future trips.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park is a nice park thats where we stay and always go back,Pirate Land is horrible in my opinion Golf carts all over the place with kids driving them and your supposed to have a valid drivers license to drive one in the park but they dont enforce it almost got run over more than once and one kid drove his cart through the neighbors site right over his sewer pipe and kept going i will never go there again.

We stay at Briarcliffe because it is the ONLY Coast to Coast CG on the coast of SC. We have been going there for the last 3 years and since we stay for 11-12 days, it is the most economical. There is a fairly good mix of motorhomes, 5'ers and TT's there and even privately owned permanent units. It is a well kept "resort" with conctete pads, clubhouse and great pool right on the intercoastal waterway. As previously mentioned, not too many kids. You can bring a golf cart (bring proof of insurance) for getting around or rent one of theirs.

The beach (at least where we go) is about 2 miles away. Turn right out of Briarcliffe. When you see Walmart on the left, turn left (Kings Rd) (cheep gas at Walmart (Murphys)). Go approx. 1-1 1/2 miles (past Myrtle Beach Travel Park and Apache Campground). Turn left just past Apache onto Lake Arrowhead Rd. The road bears to the right and you will start to see the "High Rise" hotels on your left (don't recall the names of them). There is a small public city parking lot right next to the hotel parking garage (you can pay for parking with a credit/debit card. Walk out to the beach (or along the board sidewalk) behind the hotel and you will find an outdoor bar called Ocean Annies and a great restaurant called River City Cafe (great food). There is live music at Ocean Annies all day and the hotel pool adjacent to it.

So, the kids can spend the day on the beach or poolside, grab lunch at the cafe while listening to great music (for us old farts anyway). If there are no kids, it's a great place for us........ ummmm, middle aged folks to have a good time.

Thanks for the detailed review, rracer5. May have to take out a loan to pay for the gas, but we'd like to get down there for a week this summer if possible.

If you can, take advantage of the pre /early checkin. Think it is 2 weeks out, pay up in full and they mail everything to you. Drive straight to site when you arrive. Went last year in July and loved in. Going back for a week this June in an ocean front spot. Cannot wait!
