Navigation apps
Does anyone know if there is an app where you can design your own trip route and it will check for obstructions, height limitations, etc, anything that would restrict you from towing a trailer? I have to drive from Intercourse PA to Rhode Island on Friday and would like to avoid 95N in NJ and NY. We like Waze because it comes up on our truck screen, and warns us about road hazards, police, etc, but it only gives you a few route options, and far as I can see it doesn't allow you to alter the routes it offers. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Smart TruckRoute II. It doesn't warn of police, but does setup of your specific rig, rerouting, allows for alternate routes, lets you pick the route, allows unlimited waypoints, etc. When driving, I keep my phone on this app, and the DW runs Waze. I can run them both on my phone, in split screen, but it makes everything really small.
I have not found any Trucker or RV GPS app, which has the same functionality as Waze.

Thanks Ben, I'll give it a try.

Search this forum for rvtripwizard.Check it out. Not free but probably, IMHO, most comprehensive RV route/trip planner available.

I do my own planning and rely on my Garmin GPS to provide warnings as far as low overpasses and tunnels closures do to propane on board the trailer. This will also warn you of length and weight limits on the road ways when your trailer is attached to the truck.
So, far in the 12 years that I have owned three different GPS units, I have never been led astray when using any of my GPS units. My latest is a Garmin RV785 & traffic with a dash cam included in the unit.
Here is a link to the Garmin site and the features of the RV785 & traffic. so you can review all of the features.

Thanks for the input Jim. I have been thinking about a dash cam in addition to a route planning app, so this may be the way to go....
