Need ladder on Flagstaff TT

We have read the previous posts on installation of a ladder. Is there some way of determining whether our 2005 Flagstaff TT can have a ladder installed easily?

You could call Forest River and ask them if they blocked for a ladder on that model. Another way would be to take a good stud finder and run it along where the mounts would be and see if there are any there. I'd also see if I could find a unit of that model that has a ladder then you'd know where the mounts should be located.

call the factory. I have been through a lot of research recenlty due to dealers not wanting to install ladder after the fact

i had to spend time with the factory to gather design drawings and work with factory to convince the dealer that the trailer was setup/blocked in rear for a ladder. FR strongly recommended that their ladder be installed , not another brand.

I will see our camper next week and see the ladder for the first time, hope it works

It took alot of calls to FR and dealer but I can say FR was always very nice and informative , even when the dealer almost gave up.

hope you can make it work

my ladder was finally installed by a dealer per FR instructions. We did use it last week with success, although i wouldnt put a lot of weight or use for misc storage, bike racks, etc. We have a nice telescoping ladder rated for 300 lbs that we will use along with this ladder for roof access and roof maint work

As would be expected on ladder installs after the fact , they are hard to do. we used the ladder provided from factory by FR but still you never know the stud arrangement behind the wall unless the ladder is installed with the studs at factory. Stud finders dont seem to work so well to ID the studs according to dealer

I wouldn't have a problem trusting it every bit as much as a factory installed unit. Since the factory sent it and provided instructions on how it should be installed, I'd say it might even be better than a factory install. The dealer probably took a lot greater care with the install than the mfg normally does.

My factory ladder has a sticker on it stating it's rated at 300#'s.

One thing to remember is that the factory installs them after the unit is built so they can't "see" the framing either and they don't have an issue with it. Also, a good electronic stud finder won't have a problem finding the studs. I have used mine to find the aluminum frame in my vacu-bonded side RV and the wood studs of the aluminum sided RV of my BIL. I can understand a dealer not wanting to invest in a good finder since they'd probably only use it a couple times a year.
