Need outdoor fan recommendations

So I'm sitting under my awning this weekend sweating like a pig and I hear this noise over at another campsite. I look over and they had one of those huge warehouse type fans going and I was extremely jealous!

Not sure how they carried that big fan around but I thought if I could find one small enough to keep some air moving outside that would be great. Was wondering what others have in their arsenal?

Not sure if there's a battery powered fan that would do the job but I do have an external outlet I could plug into when I'm at a site with facilities. I was thinking one of those tower type fans would store well but not sure how well they perform.

I started carrying one along too. This is a no-brainer, your basic 20" window fan <$20 anywhere you want to shop. Heck at that price...get 2. Worth the effort especially if there isn't a breeze. If anybody steals it get another JMO

Amazon sells some 12V ceiling fans in various sizes. I have on installed under my popup screen room, works decent for the price.

I carry a cheap box type fan for this purpose in my fifth wheel storage compartment. Of course this is AC powered so it must be plugged in but it works great for moving a little air and it does not take up much storage space in my compartment and is rather light.

DW picked up a 3 speed 20" box fan at Walmart that we always take along. Lightweight, cheap, and does the job.

I have had good luck with the Vernado fans. They are a bit higher $$ but are quiet and move a lot of air. Another consideration is the squirrel cage type fan like the stanley.

outside fan

We have carried a fan for several years for that breeze that is needed when its hot and muggy, it also works great to keep the bugs away, like mosquitoes, flies and gnats

While all of my fans are older, we do occasionally use them.with camping.

The best out there (in my opinion) if you want lots of air movement in a large area are the high velocity air circulator style.

Something like this..

Lasko 2264QM 20" High Velocity Floor Fan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IS6JBY..._5weABb1F76164

A tower fan (unless you're right up next to it) probably isn't going to move enough air especially if you're outside.

We have a 12" table fan that we use.
It easily fits under the bed and we can
set it on a little folding table or the camp site picnic
table. We typically sit in folding chairs and use the picnic table bench as a foot rest.
This means the fan is fairly close to us.
Using the oscillate setting means we both
get a breeze during margarita hour.

We carry a few different types. The fan we use for the dogs is just a cheap Lasko box fan - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lasko-20-...White/42388499

The other 2, one is a floor model - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lasko-20-...0-Gray/4756123
And the other is a tabletop model - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Honeywell...Black/10980207.

All are fairly easy to store and provide a good bit of airflow.

We carry a 24" Maxx-Air fan. It has 2-speeds and blows plenty of air. I use it in my shop when we're not camping. It usually creates plenty of breeze on low and it covers a pretty good area if you move it back a ways from where you're sitting.

When I buy another one it'll be a Maxx-Air 16" Turbo Floor Fan It has 3-speeds and is a good bit quieter on low than the one we use now.

We got one of the suction cup mounted fans from the Go Stik vendor at the Goshen Rally a couple of years ago:

Lots of good suggestions! I was amazed to see how many people actually do this! Going to head to Lowes and sand in front of a bunch to see what works best. not sure I want to spend $90 for a Maxx Air though

What I've noticed with fans is the more metal and larger the electric motor the better.

Those cheap inexpensive fans made of plastic are usually not as good. I dropped some serious change on a couple of Vornado fans and honestly, they haven't lived up to expectations (they're not cheap).

My kids (we have 4) and my wife and I can't sleep without a fan on (just something we got used to). We have been through quite a few in the past few years.

there is a Lasko brand that provides a 3 speed fan with plastic case and plastic blades... model is Wind Machine... I have had one now for years and I like it that it has not rusted and I don't mind if it gets wet in the rain or dew... I picked up a newer model this past spring at a Meijer store... 20" about $40... good power but NOT a High velocity which are kinda noisy anyway... also use it on those buggy evenings to keep critters at bay

I bought one of these Lasko squirrel cage fans to keep in the camper... it is awesome... but a bit pricey. Buy once, cry once.

It moves a LOT of air, and is very quiet. It also doesn't take up much storage space.

Check a boating store. I picked up a fan for my pontoon for those hot humid days. It runs on battery or electric. Also has a small hose you can place in a bucket of water if you want a water mist.

We live in hot, humid Florida and use one like this from Northern Tools. Ours is not a mini blower, if I am right. This is perfect for out under the awning as it blows very well.https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...saAgwQEALw_wcB

Yeah, mine has lasted for years. Very light and quiet. Would buy another one in a heartbeat.

my first thought would be the 20" box fans already mentioned, ... they can sure move air, are certainly better priced, not an awkward shape so they should store easily, ... but I like "sweating like a pig", ... have said that all my life, cause my dad did, ... a couple of days ago, after repeating that, I realized I don't even know if pigs do sweat, but apparently it's a common phrase, ... thanks for the smile you've given me today, ...
