Need some help with Reserve America???

For years I've been at my computer at 8AM EST to try to get a Florida State park site when first available 11 months in advance. Sometimes I got one, most times I didn't. I always felt that I was not quick enough when I didn't get one, but now I wonder if I even had a chance.

I have some friends that saw an ad guaranteeing sites for a price. On the first available day (after telling the contact which sites they wanted), they had three computers working at seconds before the 8AM deadline with no success. The contact notified them that he had both sites available and upon sending his fee ($20 a day) and the regular Reserve America fee they would have the sites. They paid and got an email from Reserve America that the sites were reserved for them.

The only way that I can understand that this would work is that the contact has an assistant in Reserve America that locked the sites before they would have been available or has technology not available to the average person. I don't believe that the State of Florida would promote such an arrangement; but, then again, I have no idea how long this service has been available. Of course this could be on the up and up and my comments would be meaningless. Any thoughts?

Similar to ticket bots where they go in and buy them first thing. If there is not a cancellation fee or even a hold out on the sites a quick script would hold all the sites right at 8. 30min later they would all go back into the pool and the bot starts over...sucks.

Yep, I could definitely create a program like this ... and remarkably easily.

Actually, heh... wouldn't mind spending a month in the keys next winter.

I've made reservations at Florida state parks 8-10 times and have always got the sites I wanted of those available. I do my home work so I know which sites are going to be available and be logged in prior to 8am. I've always reserved 2 sites in 2 transactions, one for my family, one for my sister's family. This is at the beach parks during spring break in the panhandle.

in IL we can book 6 months in advance, and there is a $5 change fee. I book for Halloween at a local state park about 6 months and a week in advance. This lets you book a week before you actually want the reservation for, then wait a couple weeks and change the reservation to the dates you actually want. Costs me $5 extra and ties up some money for a couple weeks extra but that's the only way for us to get a site for that week.Reserve America refunds the difference right away.

so we may be fighting those 3 computers that someone is collecting a separate fee to help book premium sites??? Heck, if the price is right I would pay a tiny booking fee too (so far pretty good at getting we=here we want 11 months in advance...problem is I forgot to book January ...damn snowbirds)

Get the help a little kid or some good with computers.

First get the IP address of the sight so you eliminate your search engine like Google Yahoo, etc.

Next get a good sniping program.
When the web sight opens for business, like to sell concert tickets, reservations, an A seat on Southwest Airlines, sporting event, or an auction is winding down. You beat the bottle neck.

Good luck

We have not booked through Reserve America in a long, long time. I remember my wife and I would both be up at midnight using both of our computers to get onto the Reserve America site to secure our dates and sites for the NYS campgrounds.
