New Blue Ox Patriot II system locks up brakes

So after driving off from my RV dealer where I purchased the unit with TOAD in tow, my wife (who was driving her car behind me) calls me and says the brake lights are lit up on our CRV (as I'm traveling along.) I have gone about two blocks then hop out at a light to discover that the brake system had engaged and the brake was depressed continuously during that time.

I circle back to my dealer, his RV tech gets on the phone with Blue Ox support, and I find out that this must have been an "older" Patriot II that had a defective part in it that occasionally causes this exact problem! They will take the unit back, retrofit it with a new part, update the software and send it back to me in 3-4 weeks...gee, what a deal on a BRAND NEW unit.

I couldn't find anything in the Forums of anyone having a similar issue...guess I was just an unlucky one. A bit stunned that Blue Ox knowingly had products for sale (thru their distributors) that they knew to have a major issue occasionally.

End of story is that my fabulous RV dealership, Moix RV in Conway, AR, readily agreed to replace this unit with the Patriot III that I was told has updated interfaces and corrected this braking problem at no additional charge to me...and get it in my hands in a day or two. Never a dull moment in RV world!

I love Moix RV. Sounds like they took very good care of you.

Another issue with Blue Ox. Dealer installed all Blue Ox components for me (base plate, tow bar, Patriot II, and Toad lighting harness). Blue Ox lighting harness is listed as the correct one for my Toad (2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid). After hours of working on it because the lights did not work, dealer called Blue Ox and reported to me that Blue Ox tech support said that sometimes they do not work on Lincoln LED light systems (guess what all 2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrids have the same LED light systems).
