New camper
Ordered a new 21fbrs in February, it will FINALLY be here next week. Dealer called to tell me there will be an extra 3 grand in up charges. Do I go through with the purchase or tell them to pound sand?

3 grand in up-charges? Did the dealer explain what the up-charges are for?
Myself, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run!

Welcome from another Wisconsinite. Did you have a firm, price protected contract? Many dealers are passing the recent $ increase from the manufacturers onto the customer. If you can use the VIN# to see if it was built before or after the manufacturers $ increase. Accepting the $3000 in upcharges is totally up to you. Depends on how bad you want the camper. If you don't take it there is somebody out there who will. I see you're from De Forest. Is your dealer CW?
Good luck with your decision.

I'd tell them to pound sand unless up charges were agreed on when it was ordered.

define upcharges...
they probably already have another buyer willing to pay more

My guess is you are getting a 2022 and they are charging you the 2022 price. They are paying the 2022 price as well. So your choice. If you order one from another dealer, it might be $3,000 more for the 2022 vs. 2021 so now you don't have a camper AND you will have to pay $3,000 more to get one.

Unfortunately in today's RV market, this is very likely true.
It's why we're waiting till next year for a new trailer.

If you had a price protect contract in place then I would tell the dealer they need to honor it. If you don’t have a price protect in place then you are at the mercy of the manufacturer and the dealers price increases. A $3000 increase actually seems about par though. All the dealers I talked to in the early spring told me there was a long wait for the TT models I was looking at, and many said they were not doing price protect because each month the manufacture was upping the cost little by little, and that the 2022 models (already starting to be manufactured now) were going to be atleast 5% more expensive. The dealer I bought my TT from last month just received one that is same identical model last week, and the price was increased $2500 from when I purchased mine. Unfortunately it appears the prices are going to keep going higher before they start going back lower.

I don't think the dealer is trying to rip you off, but I would get an explanation from them. Everything that goes into a trailer is more expensive than when you ordered it and manufacturers may be passing some of that cost on to you. That may include shipping price increases.
I suspect that if you tell them to 'pound sand', you're going to pay a similar price and have another long wait for the rig. Might be a 2023 model at that point.

Just got a call from my dealer saying that they would honor the original price.
