This was a lot easier than I envisioned. Went to TAP Plastics and bought some 1/8" black ABS plastic. It is heat formable using any heat gun. I only needed a small piece so a 12"x12" piece was less than $6. Next was measuring the monitor and laying out the cuts on the ABS. Next I made a block the size of the monitor and a rough rear view mirror sized and shaped block to use in the forming so I could get accurate bends with sharp corners and shapes. Cut the ABS. Fire up the heat gun and shape. I cut the strips that make the over the mirror hooks long and cut them to length after they were shaped. All in all it took probably less than 90 minutes.

I haven't used it on the road yet but it seems to be rock solid and I think will be better than velcro straps or what not. (BTW, the TAP Plastics website has a good project video for making a belt holster for a tape measure. It shows how easy it is to heat form this ABS.)

I like it.

FYI if you are an Amazon Prime member you can get 3 sheets of 12 x 12 for $3.38 as an add on to an order. Search for : Install Bay 89-00-9031 ABS Plastic 12 X 12 X 1/8-Inch.

It has one smooth side and the other is textured.

Good info. I'll make a note. Thanks.

Following this discussion. Looks like the Haloview camera will need some kind of adapter to get to a cigarette light plug and wondering if the Furrion adapter will work with the camera in the MC5111 system. I like the idea of having the recording capability that is in this setup.

FWIW, for my Furrion setup, I use a couple of woman's hair bungees to hold the monitor to my mirror. Low cost and effective. Hold the monitor more than tight enough. Because the bands are skinny, they don't cover any of the display area. I'm using a couple more to hold the power plugs in a splitter I bought - darn thing lets the plugs slip out.

The kit I got comes with a cigarette power plug. See the pic for what was in my box. The power cord is hardwired into the monitor and ends with an 8 pin connector. That plugs into the "BMW connector" - 8 pin connector on one end and a round RCA plug on the other. That plugs into the cigarette lighter adapter. Total length of all those is around 8-1/2 feet. I imagine they have to do it this way because of all the possible ways to wire these things up.

Don't know about the camera mount. They are good about answering emails. If you're interested, I'd contact them and ask exactly what kind of mount(s) come with the 5111 and how and where it can be mounted. If you tell them exactly what you already have and what you want, they will most likely work with you to get it all figured out.

I thought it was strange that Sam remarked about needing a 12v receptacle adaptor.

Just going on the pic from the Haloview website. I didn't see anything about the included adapters...
I've thought that the lack of recording capability on the Furrion's was a major miss and am surprised that their recent "upgrade" to the "S" version didn't include one. Thanks to Gastan for the additional info. Now I need to think up a reason why I DON'T need one!

X2

Mine came with the same parts as Gaston's. More than what I needed although at some point I might hard wire it in when I retire and we start FT-ing. I did buy the conversion mount that fits perfectly where the Furrion mount on the trailer was. Came with an adapter to Furrions plug and the mount and hardware. Was a beautiful install and a picture to match. Picture so sharp I can count how many fingers your holding up and which ones if your within 10' of my bumper.

Hey Everyone,

How about some pictures of the install of the Haloview on the back of your camper? I think we are all curious about making this work.

Thanks,
Jim

Haloview Camera Mount

Still have to scrape off old silicon from where the shark fin mount was. The grommet on the connection cable fits nicely into the hole on the rear bulk head the wires go through. I used electric tape on the connections for the short adaptor cable that came with the adaptor bracket, so they don't accidentally come apart, as you end up having to tuck quite a bit of cable back into the wall void. Recommend attaching camera to adaptor bracket before attempting to attach it to camper. (Thanks for that tip Gus).
