New RV owner mattress question

Ok everyone, My wife and I are first time RV owners and we just purchased a 2020 GEO PRO 19FBS two weeks ago, so on top of the mattress there is a quilted fitted cover over the mattress. The debate I need resolved is...what is that for? I say it's a fitted mattress cover that your fitted sheets and flat sheet go over (like a mattress pad), my wife says it's a cover that goes OVER your sheets to keep the bed made when you travel....who is more accurate?

Short of seeing a picture, my guess would be that it is a mattress pad and that sheets go over it.

It is likely washable and designed to keep your mattress newer, fresher, cleaner longer.

Have you slept on that mattress yet? If you're like many that mattress will be history soon after your first trip with it. That will also resolve your current question as a new mattress will bring with it the details.

Thanks, still trying to figure out how to get a pick on here, but yes it looks very much like a quilted mattress pad...

Hit the attachment button (looks like a paper clip). Take a picture with your device or select one from your camera roll. Then, preview your post to make sure the picture made it into the post.

Your wife is correct.

Having seen the picture, that is not a mattress cover.

How in the world does that even make sense? So you have to take that off to get into bed?

We had a mattress cover similar to that one and it is used to keep the sheets tucked in while you travel or you could use it while camping.
If you look carefully, it looks like there is a heater vent at the bottom of the bed and that cover will help keep the sheets away from the vent. Of course, if you're not using the heater, you don't need the cover to keep the sheets 'tucke in'.

OK, how many of you guys have a bedspread on your bed at home? If you will look at some photos of your rig's bedroom you will see that there is a bedspread and pillows in the photos. EVERY trailer I have bought has come with those pillows and bedspread. SO, the OP's wife is correct.

We have a four inch memory foam mattress over the thin one that came with our Trailer. It is beyond comfortable.

Certainly do like the mattress topper, ours we bought at Sam's Club. We bought a new TRUMP mattress at the FROG rally in Goshen and it's comfortable, but with the mattress topper it is so much better.

If you find the mattress to be uncomfortable then look for a 4-inch memory foam mattress topper. We bought this one a couple of years ago for the short queen in our trailer, made the thin factory mattress just as comfortable as our Tempurpedic mattress here at home.

That one doesn't seem to be available anymore, but I'm sure there are others. Highly recommended over completely replacing the entire mattress, which for us wasn't possible since we have a hybrid and the mattress folds.

The mattress in our 2010 Flagstaff 829FKS is very comfortable. After nine years we finally added a topper for it. It is always been great, probably the best of all the RVs we’ve ever had. And by the way we camp a lot.

It's just a cheap bedspread. Substitute your own if you like and use that one for something else.
