That works. I always keep my unit under a roof, winter and summer. They last a lot longer and stay nice. Now you need a door and heat so you can 'futz' with it in the winter.

You're lucky. Our new trailer won't fit in the shop I have, have had the old 5er for 20 years. Now the new TH won't fit because it is too tall. Got to figure out a fix. 12 ft door with a 12' 6" trailer!

This building is 18 x 41 with 12 foot opening. Much taller than I need now but I wanted to be prepared in case I bought something larger. This trailer is 10'6". I can remove the gable end and get a few more feet to help me if I get a larger unit. I'll post a picture with camper inside as soon as I have time to go pick it back up.

Just curious who makes the building. I have my pad ready and can't decide on which manufacturer to use. My base is 12 x 40. 5th wheel is 13'4" at highest point

I got mine thru a company called Bunce Builders. The carport itself is an Eagle brand building. From what I have read online it seems that they are all built about the same. Also looks like the installers make all the difference. Two guys showed up at my house at 7:30am and they left about 4:00. I found maybe two screws and a small amount of metal strips that they left behind. Very clean install and everything looks good now. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow so I will be able to make sure the roof doesn't leak.

Bunce is local to me in Winston Salem. They have lots of options at their display lot. I've talked to them in the past, and they were pretty good prices.
Enjoy the "coverage". Mine stays inside too and it is nice keeping it clean and out of the weather!

You might want to consider a Clear Span building, FarmTek - Hydroponic Fodder Systems, Farming & Growing Supplies, Hoop Barns, Poultry & Livestock Equipment, High Tunnels, Greenhouses & More I have one that has been up for 20 years now that I keep hay in and it looks as good as it did 20 years ago plus my wife and I erectred it ourselves. The best added bonus is it isn't taxable as real estate in most jurisdictions (including ours) because it's considered a 'portable' building. Mine ain't portable by a long shot (it's 75 feet long x 16 feet high x 40 feet wide.). I'm happy, I pay enough taxes.

affordable rv shed.
Very nice and very jealous. I have a new camper on order and have started planning a cover to keep it looking nice but cost was a concern. I found canopy fittings/hardware in large diameters to build larger structures. The fitting work with 1 5/8" fence tubing. I should be able to build a 12x40 frame and cover with tarp for about $400.
Plus from what i have read i dont need a permit from the township to build my canopy/ then wanted a building permit to build an aluminum rv port.

Once I discovered that here in Michigan, no building that is not on a footer (is considered portable) and isn't subject to real estate taxes, every storage building I've put up since has been a Clearspan. They offer a 15 years warranty on the fabric cover. My oldest and biggest is over 20 years old and no issues. The cover is fiddle string tight and it has roll up metal doors on both ends Much better (cheaper) alternative to a post and frame (pole barn) and tax exempt too.
My issue with a home built tarp covered frame is getting the tarp tight and keeping it tight. The Clearspan uses ratchet winches and sewn in pockets with steel tubing inside to tension the cover. A loose cover (tarp) in the wind is a goner. If you thump mine, it sounds like a drum.
My buddy bought a Shelter Logic fabric building and it lasted one year and the cover was shot because you cannot secure it tightly.
No matter what you decide on doing, it's imperative that the cover is very tight or it won't last and everywhere the cover contacts the steel tubing, the tubing must be wrapped with duct tape or the steel tubing will rub through the fabric.
Been there, I know.

Looks great. This is on my ToDo list as well.
My one comment would be to watch the path of the water coming off the roof towards the garage when it rains. It looks like it could get to the wall and window and maybe the eaves from a direction that the house roof wasn't set up to protect from. Could possibly install a gutter on that side if it significantly washes the house.
