New truck amidst shortage? Nah.

https://www.autoblog.com/2021/09/02/...rtage-worsens/

Highlights - -
GM will close a total of eight assemble plants for two weeks in September including two that produce pickups.
Ford will close two pickup assembly plants for two weeks and cut production at two more.
Nationwide, dealers had less than one million vehicles (including trucks) on their lots in August compared to 3.58 million in August, 2019.

From another article - -
https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wire...rsens-79789556
RAM has shut down its truck assembly plant in Michigan already and also its small-SUV and minivan assembly's in Ontario, Canada.

Seems that the shortages and higher costs are going to persist for the foreseeable future. Glad I'm not in the market for a new tow vehicle.

Or a rental car, a friend tried to book a car in LA for a trip from Canada and it was going to cost more than the hotel.

Heck, we looked for a 2500/250 last November and even went through a friend who is the sales manager for a GMC dealer. He flat out told us none on the lot and a list of folks waiting. Sales price non-negotiable.
We saw one at the local Chevy dealer, of course it was a High Country diesel priced at 90k. We said no, and salesdrone found one 90 miles away, LT with options, but 6.6L gas. He couldn't get the dealer to trade, so we bought directly from them for 46k. I feel lucky, same truck now is 58k if you can find one... Just towed 5300 miles pulling our 22RR from SC to TX to CO and back effortlessly. 10mpg, but our normal trips are only 100-150 miles or so, so its not a big deal. Glad I bought when I did.
