Newbie question
Good morning all,
I have a couple newbie questions and wasn't sure if this was the appropriate community forum or not, but here goes. I recently purchased a used 2006 Rockwood Roo 21RS from a prior owner. They did not have the manual and I was trying to locate the pdf online, but haven't had any luck as of yet. I submitted a request to Forest River's website for a pdf of the manual, but am awaiting a response. In the meantime, does anyone know where one can locate old pdf manuals through this forum or elsewhere?
Another newbie question, does anyone know what size ball is best for this camper; it's GVWR is 4900lbs? I've found some that say 2" will do and others that say 2-5/16. Thanks for the help and happy camping!

Good luck with the manual.... Really, the only manuals they produce are generic travel trailer manuals. Nothing model specific. The good news is that there's almost no change in them and just about any generic FR manual should answer a few questions. Every component in there will have it's own manual from the manufacturer...refrigerator, stove, etc. Your best bet on those is to get the model number of appliances and try to download those from the manufacturer. You can also look in the "library" section at the top of this site.
As to the ball...DO NOT use a 2" if it calls for a 2-5/16". You don't want to accidentally bounce if off the ball if it doesn't grab. I'm willing to bet it's the larger ball since my old Mini Lite had that size and was the same length trailer. It should be stamped on the coupler which size it is.

When we bought our first camper, we did get the owners manual and I mistakenly assumed it would be like those you get with a vehicle and tells you how to do just about everything and what everything does, etc.
But they are not very useful, imho, as they leave out details. (Example: "Keep your slideouts lubricated" begs for questions like, "What kind of lubrication?" "What do I lubricate?" "How often do I lubricate?")
So forums like this one with search engines will often provide a wealth of information and tips. More than not, any problem you'll have has already been written about and solutions and tips, too.
Concerning the ball size, I don't know but if you take some pictures and measurements maybe we can help out! (And keeping a tennis ball that's cut in half on your ball when not in use helps keep it from getting rust on it....and before hooking the trailer up, rub some general purpose grease on it and it won't squeak and whine too much when making turns.

1. The owners manual is generic and has no model-specific or brand-specific information.
2. The required hitch ball size is stamped on the A-frame, near the coupler.
I'm betting 2 5/16.

Thanks for the help all
Hey everyone, thanks a lot for the replies and general advice. All comments posted were helpful and yes I'm new to hauling a camper so any and all advice is worthwhile! Thanks for the links!
I'd rather not have to learn from bad experiences, but I'm sure I'll make a few mistakes down the road.

Uhh, in the RV world, we don't call them mistakes...but refer to them as learning opportunities.
You will most likely have a few opportunities come your way, as we all do.
