No Tow vehicle...how do I trade?

Hello, I find myself without a tow vehicle. I'm interested in trading in my TT for either a much small TT I can tow with an SUV or making a larger investment in to a used motorhome.

How in the world do I get my trailer to the dealership? Surely I'm not the only person this has ever happened to? Has anyone heard of dealerships assisting with towing for a fee?

I know the dealer where I bought my TT from would deliver if you wanted free of charge, or set up if you had a seasonal lot somewhere, I'm sure most dealers would come pick up your trailer if your trading it in for a new unit from them.

Pay the yard jocky at the dealership to pick up your trailer. Or write Pickup at vendors place in the deal. What size trailer? Uhaul rents pickups.

Is your trailer parked at the campground? Maybe you have a neighbor or friend that would tow you for a small fee or a steak dinner? Most dealers have a delivery service but few have pick up. Did you ask the dealer you are considering purchasing from?

My trailer is at my home and the dealer is any good two hours away.
I didn't know you could rent trucks set up to tow a travel trailer. What type of place does so?

Thanks!

Try some of the car rental places like enterprise to rent a truck, talk a friend with a truck into it or hire a professional driver. Or sell it yourself from home via craigslist. No towing required and you will likely get more money than a trade.

X2 on Craigslist. The stealership offered $3,400 for our trailer and I got $6,500 selling it on my own through Craigslist. I priced it a little lower than the competition and sold it in 2 days to the first person who called.

Around here some of the large dealerships rent pickup trucks and vans for local day use. I have also seen pickups from some of the car rental firms on the roads. I have no idea what the terms and conditions are but a friend used a rented F-150 to haul one of those 1 yard cement trailers to his house.

I once tried renting a vehicle to move my TT. They let me back out once we realized the moving truck 1) didn't have a hitch and 2) had a welded 2" ball to the bumper.

So if you pursue this, visit the rental place first.

FYI: I ended up paying a tow truck company to haul it for me.

X3, Craigslist.org is free, brings sellers and buyers together, and really works. We sold our slide-in on CL for nearly what we paid for it. We sold our boat last year well above the NADA value. Just make sure your unit is detailed, post a lot of good pictures, and write a detailed ad. A full descriptive ad works wonders. There is no cost per word and people actually do read them. I have been told many times that the full description was the reason they came over a one line ad.

FYI - Most major rental companies state in the terms and conditions that their rentals ARE NOT to be used for towing.

A few years ago, I wanted to rent a truck to tow my new trailer home and no one would rent a truck, especially with me using a WDH.
