The only thing the toll roads are better at in Illinois is clearing snow in the winter.

PA gas tax is hoing up another 8 or 9 cents a gallon on New Years Day. That was a typo in first sentence but I decided to leave it as it seems appropriate.

Just left the station to talk with the Captain and the Officer at shift change. Was informed that the tags on my truck to them are commercial tags and he also could have given me a ticket for not letting my vehicle "not for hire" also told that to notice that the box "must appear" is checked. Then was told that in PA if the officer dose not appear in court it can be rescheduled two times.

I was raised in Levittown PA, life member of the Croyden Fire then moved to Philadelphia and finished Highschool.

Went up that Street to see if a old friend still lived there. His family had a small farm that is long gone just houses now.

I will have to get a lawyer to fight this as it will affect my CDL and is a moving violation. If I have to appear that is 3 days off work and a 8 hour drive each way.

540 outside of Raleigh is partially tolled. An I think they are going to do part of 77 near Charlotte. Look up NC QuickPass.

But West Newton did have several local roads like that. With that said, sounds like we have traveled many of the same local roads in SW PA.

45mph speed limit through Perry, and if the part time local police are on duty do not do 55mph. Rostraver Township and Forward Township are also ticket happy so you have to be careful on 51 from Perry all the way to Jefferson. Belle Vernon, Fayette City, and the surrounding areas over to Monesson are all under SW regional police. Call them a ticket contractor as they serve many municipalities. Yes the same roads, we live between Perry and Connellsville.

I know on regular license at least in PA. If you get a ticket out of state it does not get on your license unless you don't pay it. I had this happen twice over the past ten years. Local cop/Sherri saw my out of state plates and pulled me over wrote ticket for speeding. I was not speeding either time. Would have cost me more money to fight than pay fine. But that's on a PA regular license not CDL.

Called PennDot asked them if point would be added they said no not as long as you pay fine. But if you didn't and that state contacted PA then it would.

I hate to say it but I think they have you. If the police are taking the position that your "weighted" tags constitute commercial they most likely do, they have probably used that one many times previously. The most you can hope for is to get it reduced to some lesser charge that carries no points. When you go before the magistrate if you take in an attorney make sure they're a good one and knows for certain they can get you out of the original charge. Usually when you fight one that way they are not reducing anything. That usually pisses them off. They take the commercial, not for hire label, and weight things seriously these days. All due to the Marcellus Shale gas industry and the amount of contractors and such it brought with it. Not much of that in Philly if any, but the entire state is milking the cash cow.

Good Luck

It depends on the specific states and what the reciprocation agreements are between them. Those agreements change often. I think nothing comes back to PA from any other state unless it's a major violation. Not sure how it works going the other way to the OP's state.

Sadly, when I visit my daughter in PA once a year I have a lot of PA to drive through~~ about 2 hours. Will make it as little as possible. It is getting too liberal and may catch up to CA one day. Cannot put it on my list of 'states to avoid' yet but will when they retire and move to NC.

You can overcome karma by doing good deeds and being charitable.

Good luck.

Going up here in Michigan along with 20%registration fee increase to go to road repairs.
Alas the roads never seem to get repaired.

I wonder why with all the toll roads in PA and gas tax at nearly 2 1/2 times that in NC the roads are in such terrible shape compared to NC.
Because we have to salt our roads WAY more than you guys do down south. It sucks, but it's the climate up here. Salt destroys asphalt, concrete, and vehicles.

To the OP: I'd definitely be fighting this if you have the time.

Someone has to pay for the government pensions of the state worker's. Can't imagine that they want to start paying into their own health and welfare plans. Can't wait until Pa goes bankrupt.

OK, the OP has stated he is stuck with the ticket after going to the police and will need to go to court. There is nothing else the membership can offer at this point to help, and this thread has turned political, which is against the forum guidelines.

As such, this thread is going to be closed.
