I read about it online, it seemed like a nice spot. Unfortunately Gatlinburg wouldn't work for us on a normal weekend.

Been to Gatlinburg many times. I would stay inside the Rocky Mountain National Park which is only 6 miles from Gatlinburg in Elkmont Campground. Please don't go to Gatlinburg and not see the national park. Go to Cades Cove. Early in the morning for wild life galore. Cross over the mountains to New Found Gap for many scenic spots. Be sure to make the car tour Roaring Fork. Many things to do but those are things I like most. good Luck.I see you're a biker, so don't miss the famous ride Tail of the Dragon; bikers paradise!!

Yes, that was our first ever camping trip from Canada. We rented a Popup camper (rockwood) and stayed at the yogi bear campground. Our campsite was right on the river. That trip is what got us hooked on camping.

Enjoy the park, very nice and clean.

Don't you mean the Great Smoky Mountains National Park? Rocky Mountain is in Colorado.
