Officer Down

I know this is not RV related but it's been hitting me pretty hard. We've lost another police officer in this country last night. Euless PD officer David Hofer in Euless Texas, was killed by an gunman last night while responding to a suspicious person call. I know there a lot of haters out there but for those of you who have a heart, please stop and think about these men and women out there. This is close to home as I'm a police officer in a city just 5 minutes away from him and we all know each other in some way or another. This is so getting old...Prayers to their department and families.

Thanks for letting me vent ya'll.

Prayers for your friend and his family. My nephew is what I call one of Kansas' finest. The police are kind of like the military they all try to keep us safe

This Officer was 5 years with the NYPD before he came to Texas and he was also newly engaged. Sad all around.

We had two MD deputies killed just South of me 2 weeks ago I guess, a VA Deputy was killed on her first shift.. Never made it through 8 hours before she was killed and her two partners shot. We had a pursuit yesterday where two officers were almost run down, one of their cars rammed with another officer in it... Then a 100mph chase for 30 miles.

Where are the riots... Where are the crowds screaming for justice... I am just told "well that's your job." Its sad...

Praying for the families and department.

Dwayne, after all this crap started I made a commitment to pray for our nation's law enforcement every time I see one in passing, and whenever else I think of it.

When I see officers in a restaurant or something, I try to take a minute to tell them I'm praying for them.

Now I'm praying for you, as well, my friend.

I have the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP) app installed on my IPhone. As a retired Officer it always hit home.

The latest news report is stating the family of this scum who shot the officer is blaming the police for letting him out of jail too soon. Said it's their fault he shot the officer because he was still high on meth and they should have kept him. We certainly can't win. The thought process of some of these people blows my mind.

They said they know what he did was bad but he didn't deserve to die....

Families of criminals complain when you lock them up and now when you release them. It's so pathetic. I remember when an elderly man was killed and the murderer was sentenced to life. The family of the murderer actually said since the old man would be dead soon because of his old age the length of the sentence was unfair because their family member was young and shouldn't have to spend the rest of his life in jail.

I just don't understand how the family of this guy who they know is just out and out bad, just can't say "Hey, we're sorry about this. This is not how he was raised." They would get so much more support than a lot of the hate and venom that is in store for them. Just take some responsibility and stop blaming victims.

I have to add, it was NOT the police who set this dreg of society free, it was the courts and lawyers who are making things the way it is!

Thank you Paulie. Absolutely right.. we arrest many of the same people over and over and over. We know them by sight, know their names, dates of birth, addresses, what they drive, who their friends are, everything all because we deal with them all the time, We don't even need to ask for ID anymore. All the officers know them. They just get right back out.

I have several close cop-buddies, and I hear ya, dwayneb. My hats off to you in blue. And my thanks. Always saddened to see one go down. My prayers to you all that you make the right decision in the most difficult of times! Your job does not allow for a do-over! Takes special people.

Maybe after the third offense, the bad-guy gets handcuffed to the car door handle of the local magistrate or lawyer who set them free!

I say a prayer for the LEO's every day.I have four sons and our twin boys are cops. 37 years old and one is a Sheriffs deputy and the other a local small town cop. I worry about them, all of them, every day.

Funeral is set for Saturday, From what we understand NYPD is sending over 300 officers to attend. Gonna be a rough one.

Latest news report is father of killer blaming his son's abuse by a friend at a young age as part of the issue. Still blaming cops for letting son out of jail.
