It all depends on what type of refrigerator you have. A 12 volt compressor fridge should work, assuming your wiring and alternator is up to the task. A two way fridge is typically propane and 120 volt, so that won't work on electric while driving. A three way fridge is propane/120 volt/12 volt and will work on 12 volt while underway as long as it's set to 12 volt or has a pc board that can automatically switch to whatever power source is detected. A 120 volt residential fridge will not work while underway.

Unless... you have a DC inverter that powers the 120v AC outlet for the refrigerator.

Many R/Vs have this from the factory expressly for running the residential refrigerator while going down the road or when boondocking.

Some folks (especially motorhomes) just run the generator while traveling, thus powering the residential refrigerator.

the 12V that your truck powers your trailer is for keeping your bat charged,
your fridge is only a 110 AC or Propain gas Fridge,,

to power your fridg you would need a 1500 watt inverter 12V DC to 110AC
so get your self a pair of 6Volt golf cart batt's hard wire a Invertor in there run a extenchion cord 12/2 Gage to fridge off the inverter..
hope this helps

Sunseeker Fridg

I have the same model of Motorhome from Forest River, although 2016. I have been running the Fridg while driving for the last 3yrs. No problems. I have it on Auto and it switches to propane when not plugged in (such as driving). Sometimes the error light will come on when it first switches over from Elec to Propane. I such reset by turning off and then back on, with no problems.

You don't realize that it's winter and unless you are somewhere below the 37th Parallel (in the US) not many are out camping.

There are lot of new RV owners out there, so expect it to pop up time and time again.

I've been enjoying reading all of the various opinions, as to why or why not.

I am pretty sure mine does not have a pilot light. It electronically lights and after several tries it will shut down. Experts can explain that better.

The chances of this ever happening are as close to zero as you can get. Thermocouples, thermopiles, flame sensors, electronic igniters, etc. have all done away with standing pilots that will emit gas once the flame has gone out.

You are living in the past as only a very small handful of R/Vs (mostly truck campers/pop-ups) still have refrigerators with pilots. Almost all others have electronic ignition (no pilot) and as mentioned, even WITH a pilot, there are safety devices built in so if the pilot goes out, the system isn't spewing propane all over anything.
