See post #34. We are using this same setup. No more lifting the generator! The Stromburg Carlson generator tray mounts on 3 adjustable legs to the trailer frame above the battery/propane tank. Ours is secured with metal plumbers tape and a thick rubber coated steel cable.
Originaly we had the generator on a tray attached to the rear bumper but noticed more sway with its additional weight back there. The gen is a Champion 2800 running watts and 3400 surge watts which runs the Coleman Mach 15000 A/C just fine as long as the generator is below 7500 feet altitude, all generators loose power with altitude gain. This generator setup on the front of our travel trailer adds approx. 180 lbs to the tongue weight so we adjusted the WDH to compensate. Bottom line is this type of setup was the easiest for us to use as we are in our late 60s & early 70s. Just remove the cavas cover and plug in the power cord, no more lifting and actually helps reduce trailer sway. Good luck!

Were you by chance traveling with an empty fresh water tank when you noticed the sway?

You'd be amazed at how much difference a tank of water can make with a trailer that has a "sway issue". A full water tank is part of all the calculations made to compose the sticker in the side of the trailer showing tongue weight, etc.

Champion describes that generator as weighing 84#: https://www.championpowerequipment.c...rter-generator

Does the rack weigh 96#? That's a lot.

Frank4711, the generator tray weighs approx 65 lbs, the gen weighs approx 100 lbs with fuel and oil for a total 165 lbs so about 20 lbs lighter than previously posted. Thanks for pointing out those weight differences.

I was considering a similar setup for my Honda 2000 but 65# for the rack alone is still a lot of weight to add to the tongue.

Thanks for the details.

Off-topic, but I'd rather balance what I want to carry than add ballast. Gas mileage on my 3.5L EcoBoost is bad enough as it is.
