Opening/vent under shower floor

This is not trailer specific so I am posting here if that is ok.

Out TT and several other brands have a vent or grate opening under the shower floor. When the heat is on, cold air blows out from this vent.

Our TT and others I have seen this on have the heated (forced air duct) enclosed bottom.

Would it be okay to close this off or is it cycling the air blowing the cold out by blowing the heat in?

Found the answer here

Thank you

When the heat is on, does hot air blow from the rest of the vents?

If yes, I am thinking the duct has come loose. It should be blowing hot air like the rest of the vents. I suspect it is blowing hot air into the cavity under the shower, giving it time to cool before it exits the vent ( when its blowing air into the cavity that air needs somewhere to exit, so naturally it exits the vent, and you feel it as cold air). I would pull it off and see if you can find the hose, reattach it, and reattach the vent to the wall.

So after reading the previous thread, I am going with it is for air circulation.

Under the sink is a heat duct/hose that blows directly into the underbelly. When that blows the hot air in it forces the cold air to blow out in the bathroom. Why the bathroom....no idea. Nothing like having cold air blow on your wet feet.

It also is access for to drain and water pipes

I added underbelly heat to my camper. The only opening under my shower(I have a solid access panel) was a hole in the floor for the water/drain lines. If yours is the same I would not hesitate to cover it.

When the heat is on I get airflow through the opening. I left the cover on. I figure there are enough gaps elsewhere to let the air flow fine. Other drain lines and wiring have to go through the floor somewhere. I can feel air coming out of the seam from the shower base to the wall. It is not like these campers are made airtight.

I even taped up my underbelly cover to the frame to seal the gaps there. The only thing I can not seal is the push/pull tube opening through the frame. I still did put foil tape around the opening as the tube just bends it as needed. That way it seals up some. That keeps the wind from forcing cold air into the belly.

P.S. As long as you are mentioning the shower base, make sure the center is supported(I used solid insulation). Some people have posted of flex in their bases where they stand.
