Yikes.... Maybe we can take up a collection and send the poor guy a garmin 365. It's a trucker model that you can input your rig height. It will warn you about low overpasses. I bet he wishes they'd have blurred the number on his license plate.
On the other hand, if your TT is a lemon, it would be a great way to get a new one.

there is a guy on Youtube that has video of a bridge called 11foot8 - and showed a 5th wheel hitting it and taking off both of his A/C units and also trucks hitting it as well - it is a low Railroad bridge

ROFL; this is a VERY expensive lesson. There are lots of low bridges around. One of the more 'surprising' ones is on I-55 North at the I-40 westbound exit in Memphis, TN.

Should this one be chalked up to a 'serious' lack of judgement?? I always try to allow an extra 6" leeway in case they've resurfaced the roads since the height signs were posted.

Height

I think having one of those height warning devices is certainly needed for all 5th Wheelers..what a shame...would certainly hate to come home with the top missing off the RV..mema would not be happy..

OK, I can see missing it by 6 inches or maybe a foot, but 4 and a half feet!!!!!

Gotta remember when and what you have behind you. no common sense! can`t just get in and drive like the truck is empty.

What's that saying?
You can't cure stupid?
The driver looks a fair age, but not that old.

I think all of us have made some really stupid mistakes in our lives, and I bet that driver is in disbelief at what happened.
I just hope nobody got hurt.

Garmin 365.... Much cheaper than a new roof.

What was his nagagator doing while he was busy watching other things??

Following the instruction of the GPS doesn't always work either. This is what happened to this bus driver who was following his GPS and not paying close attention to the road signs. The fact of the matter is, things happen. I'd be willing to bet fatigue plays a factor in most dumb accidents.
