Time to switch from us to me

Sounds selfish, but the wife and I spent almost 2 months covering national parks and lots in between, from Missouri to Michigan and into Canada. October through November my class A turns into a part time hunting cabin. Missouri has over 1 million acres for us to roam on for free. Wish I could get the wife to agree to my idea of the winterizing process I invision. Point the RV south and keep going till spring.

Right now it is 83.3 F degrees on my front porch...

Gonna be headed to the pool in an hour or so!

We froze out last night at 63 degrees.

Damn...left the window open all night for some fresh southwest desert air!

Here in michigan we have 11 1/2 monthes of winter and two weeks of bad weather. Had to winterize the fiver already even though we will be heading to Galveston Island Texas right after thankgiving and staying till May. Sure is a tough life when your both retired and can go anywhere at anytime.

Not going to be using the fiver before we leave so had to winterize in case of cold snap. Did not want to replace water line before leaving for texas. Most campgrounds here are either closed already or water is turned off. Supposed to get snow tomorrow night. Nothing to bad. Wife is handicapped and i’am 100%diabled with cancer so i have to winterize while its still decent out.

"Come on. You are from CA and you call it the Sierras? "

Born and raised in CA and I agree it's the Sierras. What do you call it?
Here in San Diego we wonder what this "winterizing" is all about. Just wash and wax and put away until that October, November, December. . . . trip.

We enjoyed our 5,300 miles on 2 trips. Might get one more in before the end of the year.

Just filled her up with antifreeze. A few subfreezing nights coming up in the forecast. She's been emptied of everything that needs to come out. Next steps are to give her a good cleaning, put in mouse repellant, close the slides, raise stabilizers, unplug, remove batteries, cover and begin my 6 months of pouting.

Oh yeah!

We call it winter down here!

Three months of staying inside with the air conditioning instead of six months of the same running the furnace!

But did I mention we have two swimming pools and hot tubs here?

So I call it 'Summerizing' the 5'ver...basically draining all of the water and bringing the battery up to the shed as it boils if left in the trailer.

At least when we do pull the 5'ver out in the summer, all I have to do is put water and the battery in it, plus maybe get some of this desert dust out of it...and off we go!

No more pink stuff!

I think I may have told you that I was born and raised in Michigan (lived there for 33 years) and Colorado for 26 years, so I am familiar with the cold!

LOL...it's the Sierra! Short for Sierra Nevada.

Yes, there is just one Sierra Nevada mountain range.

I Winterized this weekend Would have liked to keep going camping more but the reality is not until after January was it going to work out so to get it out of the way I did it on Saturday this was my first time using antifreeze in the lines it all went smooth...

Last year I just blew out the lines and forgot to depress the toilet pedal to get all the water out it was a brutally cold Winter here in our part of NC last year and my mistake cost me a busted toilet valve since I didn't get all the water out. This year not taking any chances.

Thanks all Forum member's for your posted all the Winterizing advise and checklist's

I'm going to be doing part of my 'Summerizing' of the 5'ver probably tomorrow.

Got the battery in the shed, but now that our camping season down here in the desert is about to begin, I'm topping off the charge and will be taking it down there so I can put out the slides are start getting it ready.

No trips planned yet...but soon!

Hey JohnD - if you make it over to San Diego, try and get in some of the great tuna fishing going on now.

We attended Plott Days in Maggie Valley with our Jax he’s a rescue. Amazingly sweet goofball boy
