PA FROG deal and a question

Today I got an email from FROG about a limited time offer on PassPort America membership. We've considered getting a membership in the past but didn't do it for a number of reasons. Now we are retired and next month we have our first big trip coming up (5500 miles +\-).

My question is, does anyone with a PA membership find that getting reservations on the fly is any easier with a PA membership? Our biggest concern is not finding a CG towards the end of the day that is near our travel route (I hate adding an extra hour each way for off the path locations).

So what do you think, helpful or no better than using RVParky?

We only use Passport and love it ! We are not resort campers and hate to pay for resort amenities . I have never not gotten a spot by calling an hour or so ahead of arrival . We are not destination campers , we tend to wander till something looks good !

PA is not for weekend campers or summer campers.
We've been members for 16 years and feel it's worth it for us, especially the FROG deal.
A second comment is that if you are snowbirds, most areas they flock to, don't honor PA during the high season winter. Basically the opposite of areas popular for summer camping.

Just a tip....We usually know before we depart where we want to camp for the night. We call the campground before we leave to make reservations.
If there is a KOA in the area, we are members and use their phone app or our computer to make reservations either the night before or in the morning. It eliminates the need to call and hope someone answers. It also allows for after hours checkin in case we get delayed.
We looked at PA, but they either didn't have campgrounds where we travel or their blackout time periods didn't fit with our plans.

Thanks all, we appreciate the feedback! I decided for the money it's worth a shot (we have had the KOA membership before and it always paid for itself). We know we want to stay i a park near my sister in Crystal River and I see that the park we were looking at is on the PA list. I'll be calling them tomorrow to get that one set up.

As much as I'd like to be able to plan ahead and have all our reservations in hand, I just don't see how we can predict all the spots on a trip like our next one. We'll try and do the places we know we're going to stay for a while up front, but the rest will be short notice. Since this will be in late April we're cautiously optimistic that the campgrounds will have at least a little space.

We use it, mainly in the middle of the week and in non peak times. Each campground has its own restriction, such as only good for 2 nights. So, you have check before making reservations. A few uses pays for the membership. We have found that often the campsites are a little further away from ideal areas. We take 6-8 weeks trips and normally work in several usagesas we plan stops ahead of time w/ RV Trip Wizard.
