Picking TT up tomorrow

Well it is finally time to pick up the new 2702SS and the DW and I are making the treck to bring her home. We have a nice 6 hour ride ahead of us and I know that I will counting every mile. We are planning to stay in a hotel over night and our appointment is for 11AM on Thursday. The dealer still will have to install a new tv in the living room and install the equalizer hitch i am bring up. I figure the DW and I would drop that stuff off around 9AM when they open to get that done and walk around and look at all the other untis to kill time. Then after the PDI we are off and running back home to load everythign up.

If anyone has any words of advise i would greatly appreciate them.

ask questions ask questions ask questions
fill all switches and ask what they do if not sure .
ask where water filter and water pump are.
ask where hw heater by pass is.
ask where all the manual options are incase of power outage . including the tool to do it.
for the slide/s awning if so equipped with a power one.
have them show where the fuse panel is.
thats a good start even if your a veteran camper.

Congratulations John. I know it's been a little longer than you thought.

The only thing I suggest is to bring a torque wrench for your trip home. The wheel lugs and your new Equal-I-zer will need to be tightened in the first few hundred miles.

Enjoy your trip and new RV!

But please be careful about which units on the lot you check out while killing time. I made the mistake of checking out another unit which got the wheels turning in my head.

Counting down the hour till we leave. Thanks for all the well wishes and the great advise. I have a PDI list loaded in my iPad that is very detailed ( the mechanic and salesman are going to hate me ), I also will be video taping all of the important parts of the walk thru. I loaded the truck last night with all my tools and safety gear and just have to load the new tv this morning. I will be sure to post picks as soon as I can.

Wow where to begin.....arrived a dealer at 8:30 on Thursday morning and dropped off all my extras for the Dealer to install. I was scheduled for my PDI at 11 am. 11:45 and the PDI guy finally was ready. He apologized for the delay but he ran long on the people in front of us. So what does he do ..... he shortens our PDI to make up time....I felt ripped off and let them know it ( thank God I read this forum and had my own PDI list which I used on my own). I found some issues that needed to be addressed and let the staff know they needed to be fixed. The service dept dragged butt doing them to the point of me yelling at them a 4pm to start working on it. They got done at 5pm. Took them a hour to fix but kept me and my DW for 4 hours. Got on the road and you could tell the equalizer hitch was out of adjustment ( I still have to readjust). Stopped after 5 hours of driving and camped at a rest area do to exhaustion and a long day. Next day finished the trip to the campground and set everything up. When hooking up sewer hose I noticed water leaking from the under belly. Stripped the underbelly and found the leak. The dealer installed a grey water washout that I requested and they never tighend the hose. I fixed that as well.

I can honestly say I love the TT and the DW ad I are happy with the choice. I can also say the dealership was fantastic as far as the sales dept. I can also say that the dealers service dept was Mickey Mouse!!! The walk thru was less than what they owe to the customer and the service work was really dissappointing.

My hat goes off to TerryTown ( Grand Rapids MI ) sales staff. Thumbs down for the service department......they need to get their act together!!!!!!

Glad to hear it all worked out for you in the end, John. Sounds like an interesting trip but nothing you couldn't take care of. You are right that this forum is a far better resource than the PDI, but too bad they shorted you on it.

As for the WDH, its been my experience that few dealers adjust correctly. Or, in some cases, they do their best to adjust but are hampered by not being able to adjust to a fully loaded trailer. What is the adjustment needed for the Equal-i-zer?

Ball height is to high. The trailer is actually sitting tougne high. Doesn't make for a fun ride set up like that. I managed but I did get more sway than I should have

They went with the half tv cabinet and 2 steps on the 2013. I reallyve the lay out of the camper and gives plenty of room for the family. As I get thing going I will post more pics.

Do you think it needs the three steps? can't understand why they changed this . Do you think they built the TT lower to the ground? hope not this one of the reasons I bought this TT my current TT is so low I was always scared I would hit my dump valves they are only 7 inches off the ground
