2nd the Pop Up Firepit

The Pop Up Firepit is awesome! Just make sure to get the bundle that includes it. Lots of YouTube videos on it. Burns super hot but doesn't scorch the ground with the heat shield and is approved by the US Forest Service.

I use disposable BBQ's and "fire pits". I buy aluminum baking pans or turkey roasters, put a few holes in the bottom and fill it up with charcoal or your favorite wood.
Let it cool and throw the whole mess away.

Use both

We use the Pop up Pit when we get to use real firewood and a gas pit when we don't. Nothing replaces a real wood fire, IMHO, but AZ has so many fire restrictions we had to go gas if we wanted ANY fire at all so...

The Pop up Pit is really easy, really compact, but our heat shield is crumbling and we've only used it 3 or 4 times

Propane fire pits are great, no mess, no smoke, no smell.
Sets up in a few minutes and shuts off in seconds. No more wet smoky smell from putting the fire out.
We turn ours on for a few hours in the evening and enjoy.
I have been thinking of changing the lava rocks to colored glass and adding the fake logs, but not sure if the lid would still work with the logs.

Started with the Solo Stove Ranger and moving up to the Bonfire for this year, even with campground semi-green pine very little to no smoke, with the stand there's no scorching underneath.
