Man, buying 5 cords at a time, I get it for $175/cord. $60 for a half is an awesome price! Maybe because less demand for heat in Ark.

Plenty of demand, just lots of wood and lots of people selling it. Remember Kris- I THINK a rick is a half cord; not positive.

Edit- just looked it up. Not a half. You'll see.

That's a 'face cord' up here. Only people who want a fire for ambience buy face cords.

It is virtually impossible to get a true cord of wood in the bed of a pickup.

Not to mention it could damage your truck even if it did fit. My F150 has a 2100lb payload including passengers. A cord of wood is between 2 and 3 thousand lbs.

Depends how green it is. Seasoned or KILN DRIED! Never weighed a load, just hauled it in till we had the woodshed full.

Never have seen kiln dried firewood in our neck of the woods. Maybe if you called wood scraps from the sawmill "firewood". We always looked upon that as "benefits" of working at the sawmill.

May be a ripoff where you live. I've heard this before. But not around where I live. They sell wood by the rick- not by the cord.

https://agr.wa.gov/services/inspecti...20being%20sold.

Here in WA state the sale of firewood is regulated as to what terms you can use and exactly what constitutes a cord of wood.

A rick isn't a standard unit of measure. It's however long the wood is cut and 4' high X 8' long stacked.
A cord is 4' high, 8' long, 4' wide. So you could have 2 ricks of 24" fireplace wood equaling a cord or 3 ricks of 16" wood equaling a cord.
I hope that makes sense.

Why Kindling Cracker Portable Wood Splitter?

...sheesh. Anyway, OP may have moved on, but just in case, we switched from a hatchet and axe to a Kindling Cracker. Works great. 8 year old grandson loves using it and we worry less about him getting an axe or hatchet injury.

That's a very good application of that device.
