Portable Wood Splitter
Have you guys seen those portable wood splitters on TV? I just saw them. My wife says they've been around for a while. Looked pretty cool. Some even come with their own hammer. Anybody have any experience with them? They look pretty simple. Large or small version? Thanks!

EDIT: SORRY... was compiling this post as you were typing.
Give us a link.
I know of about 4-5 different versions of a so called "portable" wood splitter.

That's funny you guys! Never seen any of those except for the hammer and the uni-bit. That one didn't work worth a darn. I've always used a plain old axe or a machete to make kindling. I think I might like that one in the link.

Most places I've traveled to prohibit bringing your own wood, forcing you to buy it locally which usually comes split and seasoned.

this one from Harbor Freight really does work and is great for a camper, .... not expensive and has a small footprint for storage, ... that price is $24.99 and with their 10, 20 and sometimes 30 percent discounts, it can be even cheaper, ..

That design seems like it could get stuck, with no leverage to get it out. Is our experience different?
I don't think I'd be willing to pay $2,499, even if it does work.

Mine works great, ... BUT your point is well made, it is such a COMPLICATED TOOL, that if someone cannot understand how it works and how to use it correctly, then they could have problems with it and they should not invest in such a COMPLICATED TOOL as this, ...

This just pours more salt on an open wound I have haha. For making kindling I bought a fisker hatchet last year. Our camper flooded during Ida and was totalled. Somehow when cleaning it out the fisker hatchet was left behind. I will buy another but I had basically just bought that one so it still bothers me that I left it behind.

This tool does work well albeit heavy and loud. I typically go to a remote part of the park and use the tool so I don't bother others.
It does get stuck occasionally but the wood is relatively easy to remove. There were some early reports of the maul detaching but i have abused mine and it is still in good shape.
I bought this one about 7yrs ago https://www.amazon.com/Timber-Tuff-T...a-522222970020

I have! Ranger came over to my tent camp a few years back at Gateway National Recreation area at Sandy Hook NJ. Wanted to see what I was burning and made sure I was only burning wood they provided. Reportedly because 'it smelled like someone was burning something they shouldn't'. And no, I was not smoking weed. That time.

Depends on how much firewood you have to split and how much effort you want to put into it. https://www.amazon.com/SuperHandy-Sp...&ts_id=1091946
Not practical for rving though
