Power protection

Been reading on the forum about the need for power protecting, they ain't cheap. Imagine they could pay for themselves. I'm a new rv owner with a lot to learn. Trying to get everything I need for a three week trip to south dakoda in June. Re the power protection, I see they have hard wire and portable. Leaning toward a portable with voltage protection. Still in the $300 range. ????

I have the portable 30 amp Surge Guard. I would not plug in without it. It automatically shuts power off if the voltage is too high or low or if pedestal is wired wrong.

Yes they could pay for themselves if the wrong conditions occure. Imagine what it would cost to repair/replace all your on board electronics - furnace, hot water heater, fridge, AC unit, tv, etc. They're cheap insurance actually. Progressive Industries is the preferred brand around here. Progressive Industries RV Surge and Electrical Protection industry lea

Progressive Industries EMS series offers the most protection and only brand with lifetime warranty. Here is a link comparing all the popular makes and models.

When Power Protection is mentioned this ad comes up...

One thing to think about plugging in hot! Flash Burns can hurt!

I have a Camco Version of the Surge protector. The Progressive Units are not CSA and were not available in Canada when I tried to purchase one

I also have the portable 30Amp Surge Guard. I've been very happy with it as provides excellent protection and is easy to use. And it can "move" with you if you swap RV's. They are on Ebay for $223.99 with Free Shipping. See Here.

I hard wired my Progressive Industries in and it will for sure go with me if I ever get rid of the trailer. I installed it and I can uninstall it.
