Prayers for Gatlinburg....
One of the most popular places for recreation is ablaze. The town is being evacuated and buildings destroyed. They are saying the fire was man-made due to drought conditions.
The DW and I were just there in October. My heart is breaking.

Terrible news.
One of our favorite places to visit.
Prayers to all involved.

I agree! We camped in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg twice since June. I'm sure they will rebuild and we will definitely be back there!

We have a vacation scheduled for March there, wife now wants to cancel it. Told her to wait and see what the true damage is.

Local news has a map of whats burned:
MAP: Businesses burned in Gatlinburg fire
Its bad, and 3 people are dead, but most of the attractions are untouched. Everything on the main drag in G-Burg looks OK. I would imagine that Gatlinburg/PF will be 100% ready for visitors by March.

Fire is devistating for sure.
Been there twice. Not going back. Too many people (tourists) too much traffic and too overpriced for what you get, but then I prefer solitude and no people (tourists). Must be the fact that I grew up in an urban enviroment and moved to the sticks long ago.

If your vacation spot is still OK, then I suggest you go. The area will need all the economic help they can get.

Hell, we should have a "Help Gatlinburg" Rally there next year. Imagine the $$$ that a hundred+ Frogs would bring there.

I have been to the Pigeon Forge area a lot and plan on going a lot more. The traffic is not bad if you know your way around the area. I wonder how many RV spots are around that area? Must be a few thousand, there sure is a lot of tourists in that place

We go probably 5 times a year. Love that place! We stay a good bit off the strip and never feel like we are close to anything till we go into town. I would be in for a charity trip for sure!
