You are correct. A 30# tank holds 7.1 gallons. At 30 cents per pound, that equals about $1.28 per gallon. Was there ever a question about this?

Have not calculated the cost saving but its worth have the ability to fill at home.
Highly recommend if you have a home propane system, the kit is around $100.
How well does this work? Do you know how much propane is actually transferred into your smaller tanks? The reason I ask is, because at every propane fill station I have been to, there has been a pump used to force the maximum amount of propane into whatever tank they are filling.

Sams Club is a Walmart Member Store and competition to Costco Stores.
There are Costco Stores in Ontario and in most States, which we us, as we wind our way to Texas every Fall and return in the Spring.

I paid a $1.70 at our local station/quick mart. That may be higher than some places in Washington because we are on an island, but their prices are pretty competitive. Two days later we paid $1.40 per gallon for home delivery. If I'd known he was coming, I would have saved the trip into town.

Sams club in Bangor Maine was rumored to be shutting down due to Costco in NB Canada. at 35% exchange on the American dollar apparently their memberships are down and they have stuff less glittery (couldn't find the proper word) than the Canadian Costco's

The CG is renting 100# cyclinder for $75 and they swap out and deliver. Only going to use for 2 months and not having to deal with it on Sunday and not listen to DW and no storage took up in moving. Very happy with the deal.

Works great! Loosen the top bleed screw valve and allow to vent, while filling, with normal atmospheric pressure or large volume tank pressure doing the filling instead of a propane liquid pumping the work. It is slower this way, but your not paying for someone else to pump it in.

Reading info on LPG. The Truth About Filling 20 LB BBQ Grill Propane Tanks | Web Design Greenville SC, Propane Bottle and LP Gas Cylinder Filling, Propane Liquid Withdrawal Valve

There is a better video out there showing how to properly fill, just can't find it.

I just paid $8 to fill a 20lb tank at the Costco in Santee, CA. That is about $5 cheaper than anyplace else I could find in San Diego and about $12 cheaper than the exchange places. I love Costco!

Do all Costco's have propane? I paid $21 last time at the local hardware store , but that was a 30gal. $8 for 20lb is a deal.

Our local Costco does not sell propane. I had my 20 pounder re-filled the other day at a cost of $6.99 (doesn't matter how empty or full your tank was, still $6.99). Problem is this dealer only fills to 15 pounds, not 20.

I have found that Tractor Supply is always around 1.00 less per gallon than anyone in the area. Just paid 15.00 including tax to fill 30 lb tank in Mt Pleasant Mi.

I think anyone that is paying by the tank size, i.e. a 20# tank for $15 etc. is getting hosed! Propane is traded and sold by the gallon just like gasoline, but the consumer industry exploded with the popularity of household propane grills and gas stations and such advertising the tank size refill. This got compounded by companies like Blue Rhino being at every chain gas station, grocery store and corner convenience store. They really jacked up prices in the mid 2000 energy crunch, aka $4.00 + for gas and the people just kept paying their outlandish price. Then to compound the price gouging they started giving you only 15# of propane in what looks like 20# tanks. Thief's! I buy my grill propane at Tractor Supple, Spring this year was at $2.79 a gallon and filled my onboard tank on my class A at Camping World for $3.49 a gallon, not having many options for that tank.

Here in Montana, bulk propane from the propane dealer is $1.00 a gallon. I have a hose on my 1000 gal. propane tank that I use to fill my 20# tanks, but have been hosed on the road, like everyone.

Just got my 2 tanks filled. Cost was $1.69 a gallon, which is crazy cheap here on the West Coast.
