Propane Re-fill Question

Hi! I'm new to the forum and relatively new to our Surveyor 263 and I have a question regarding propane tank re-fill procedure. My owners manual states 'Never remove the LP gas tank from the motorhome...Always drive the motorhome to the gas supplier.' My question is why? Tank removal on the Surveyor looks pretty simple. How is refilling my travel trailer's LP tanks any different from refilling the smaller tank on my gas grill? Obviously removing the tanks and taking them in for re-fill has convenience appeal. Is the warning over-stated, or is there a safety issue?????

This is new to me.I have been removing mine and having them refilled for the last 12 years.

On a motorhome I can see not removing the propane tank but on a TT I can't imagine that scenario. I think you've either got the wrong manual or it's a mistype in the correct manual. We always remove ours to have them refilled. even if you towed it to the propane refill place they'd remove it to fill it.

Motorhomes have built in tanks in most instances, hence do not remove warning not that it could be done very easily.
Portable tanks such as on a trailer or 5th wheel must be removed to refill.

I read that in the manual too! So it seems everyone removes them to get them filled.

The warning is for liability coverage of the manufacture. I am sure they feel it is much safer to move the tanks in thier secure harness versus the back of a pick up truck or trunk, hence the graphic. May even be some concern about the weight of a full tank.
