Give these a try, both have refill & delivery of forklift LP tanks so they will have the equipment needed. The second has 2 locations around Lincoln, I don't see a Farmers Coop listed. I don't know how much anyone charges for the service so if you want to get by cheap use the gas up as others have suggested.

Scrapper, thanks again. Matheson and Lee's does not do that type of repair. The only other possibility is Great Plains Propane Service in Ashland.

Have you actually removed the knob to see if maybe a stripped knob is all you have? If it is, you don't need a gas company to change it out.

Bama Rambler, been TOO COLD here in Nebraska to go out and see if I can get the knob off. Possibly Wednesday or Thursday I can do this.

Assuming the knob to shaft interface is stripped out (e.g. the spline is bad or the square-socket handle is cracked), you could remove the handle and use pliers or vice grips to open the valve and use the propane supply to allow swapping out the valve. If it's a square-socket handle, those are easy to replace. If it's a stripped spline on the valve, most valves CAN be disassembled and the shaft replaced, but that's when I'd just go for a new valve.

Jim, thanks. I'll keep this in mind when I take the knob off once the weather gets a little higher here in Nebraska.

Why are you concerned about it? I know motorhome owners that haven't shut their propane tank valve in years. I would think you would just use it up as you need to and worry about it when the tank gets empty. Would save a lot of trouble.

SlowrideHD, yah, I may have to do that. I just want some piece of mind knowing the knob is off or on. We have had a number of nights in the MH with the knob that way.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum who commented and offered suggestions. This forum really puts out the help when you need info. The weather here in Nebraska gave us a break, and I was able to get my Coachmen Freelander to a farm propane supplier. He tried a knob that might fit; it didn't. He fetched his box of spare knobs and found one that worked turning on and off. He checked the connections making sure there were no leaks. Flame came on inside the coach also. He worked on this for about a half hour; They only charged me $15.00. He said knobs for a motorhome could cost $55.00. So again thanks.
