Proposed Document Library

I believe that the establishment of a RV (Forest River) document library within the Forest River Forum community would be a decided asset to all members. Documents would be submitted by members and after moderators have determined suitability, the documents would be stored ( possible under the community label) and made available to all members.

I, like many on the forum, have seen many issues/problems resolved after a member has provided hard to find documentation..

If you agree that this would be a good project, maybe the forum moderators, with assistance from members at large, could be convinced to under take this.

I am all for this. I have quite a collection of PDFs now as I am trying to reduce the 4 inch thick binder of manuals I now carry to fit completely into my iPad. I am about 1/2 way there.

Totally agree...I've been collecting manuals and trouble-shooting guides for almost ten years...would be happy to upload them to a document library.

i like the idea as well. i've been picking them up as i find them. a lot more useful than the general manual that came with the trailer.

Given the variety and complexity of components in the RV world, I for one would really appreciate this library of information.

I think this would be a great idea. The tractor forums I am a member of have this same idea in place.

You might want to start thinking about naming or indexing standards/guidelines for submitted docs. Without some standardization, it will probably just be a mish-mash of docs and very difficult to locate the ones you need.

Yes, I can see that. My PDF just says "water heater" or Coleman AC.
I would have to fix everything to add model numbers etc.

Then we would have to create folders for each installed appliance.
I don't know how the forum would be set up to do that. I will move the discussion to the moderator forum.

Moderators are discussing this and we hope to implement
something soon.
The forums are going through a bit of re-modeling right
now and the admins are kinda busy.

I agree this is a good idea but we don't need to
re-post or copy every manual out there.
All we would really need to do would be
post threads in a special forum and put a
thread tag
on each one with a maker and hopefully model number
then in the thread there would be a
link to the document out on the makers website.

Just my 2¢
