Ham

40m is better for me but i can get on 80m. I play radio during the winter from the house and bring the radio camping during the summer.
The study guides to get back into ham radio are great. I liked Gorden West, when I upgraded. 73 Jim

You can take the test and get listened again, they did completely away with the code, big mistake I think but they didn't ask me

Either band is fine, but will need to be evenings due to work schedule.

Might need to be flexible with the format and see how things work themselves out.

You can check it out by going to ARRL.org and doing a search "restore old license". I checked the license and your old call is still available if you want it. All you have to do is request a vanity call after you get a new call. There is no longer a charge for vanity calls either.
Did a little research and yep you are got the right person. I found my old license so I should be good to go. Now a little study and bone up all those new bands.

Come on Wade, just slip out to one of the planes outside the hanger and tune up in the AM. My son, KG7OF, did that when he was stationed at McCord. He worked avionics on C-141's and was talking to a guy and told him he was in an airplane and the guy said, cool, how high are you, he told him, oh, about 30 feet.

You will have to get a new call sign first and then apply for your old call as a vanity call (no extra cost). Check with a local VE about getting your old call back, they may be able to just reinstate your old call without a vanity application. I haven't had that situation yet so I'm not sure. The Tech license question pool is good for 2 more years so you don't have to panic if you don't want to.

You may have to drive to Topeka June 11 for their next test session since they haven't scheduled any test until October for Manhattan. You should have the books studied enough by then to ace the exam, or contact the local VE to see if he could give you a special exam session, we do it here in the Atlanta area a few times a year.

Sounds good to me. I am new here. So it might be fun to talk to others in the same fun hobbies. I do not have a antenna up for 80m. But I am active on 40m and up. 20m might also be a good band to try too. I am general class ham.

Put your nose in the license manual and get your General so you can join in on HF.

OK it appears 40 is best for all on first time out, lets give Sunday night (4/24/2016) on 7.250 + - 10 a go at around 8:00 PM EST if no go at that time will try again at 9:00 PM EST on same freq. I will be on dipole but also have a beam that I can swing if needed. I will call net as Forest River Owners Group 40 meter net. If anyone knows of a problem with that please let me know. I don't think we would be breaking any copy right laws. If anyone talks to FROG Bob please ask him about that. WB4FSN

Bummer, I'll be at Gunter Hill COE just west of Montgomery AL for an overnight stop and don't want to set up for maybe propagation for one night. I guess I'll have to wait until the following Sunday if the freq and time works out. Thanks for the work on this Roger. It looks like close to 16 interested so far in about 12 states.

Forbes, looks like I won't make the first check-in. I've been searching for things this afternoon but don't have everything found and hooked up yet. Plus, it has been awhile (2001 according to my last logbook entry) so there is going to some refresher needed with manuals. I have powered up the Kenwood TS-530S though and will be listening in.

WB4FSN, you had a very strong signal on both frequencies. Could not hear anyone else though. I tried to call a few times but my signal just wasn't getting out.

Roger, it a good little net for the first night. I could barely hear you at 8pm. I called you then never got a response. But 9pm was a lot better. So were we the only frogs on frequency? I went up to 28.445 with y'all but only heard static. The band was pretty good for a little bit. Hopefully I'll get to check in with you again on Wednesday.
