Normally, I blow the water out of the lines before pumping in antifreeze. Without my compressor, it will take more antifreeze to push the water out.
A small 12v tire pump which I carry in the truck works.

Are you forgetting to open the low point drains first?

I always used 2 1/2 gallons... whether I blow out the lines or just let them drain out.

I never have understood what difference it make how much one uses ? It only cost $3 per gallon?? I always buy 6 gallon. Pump it thru with plenty in the drains. Maybe have some left over for my pressure washer. I’ve never had a problem finding it.

Re-winreizing on the road

We just got back from a month in Florida. I hauled anti-freeze down to make sure I had it. Walmart in Fort Myers had anti-freeze in stock but did not stock camping toilet paper. Made no sense to me.
Anyway, winterized at our last stop on the way back to Ohio.

Probably because a lot of people don't bother with "camping toilet paper" and just use Charmin or whatever they use at home. Unless you're using TP that's more like paper towels, it all dissolves and unlike "Camping TP" it doesn't do so in your hand.

RV anti-freeze on the other hand really doesn't have a good substitute.

Ditto Dan 46. Winterized in our favorite campground near Mamouth cave.

First time I used the compressed air deal. Using 2+ gallons of cheap antifreeze from Wally world was much easier the second time. Mine is harder because of the washer.

We make an annual week long trip to somewhere "warm" each new year. We blow out the lines using a 120v pancake compressor, then pump in the pink stuff. Last year we winterized in Memphis coming home, this year it was as warm in Kansas as it was in Florida, so I was able to winterize in my driveway. Takes less than 30 minutes and two gallons of pink stuff. In winter we travel with three gallons of antifreeze in the back of the TOAD just in case.
