Rear camera

Talked with local audio store about installing rear camera on my 2015 V LITE FLAGSTAFF TT. Comes with 5inch display wide angle camera. cost out the door is $650.00. Want it cause I will be towing a 14ft trailer with generator and side x side on it. is that a fair price plus trailer is prewired but must run hook up. it will not be a wireless unit

Without knowing the specs of the equipment they're providing, there's no way to tell if i's a good deal or not. If they're using good equipment, $650 is a good deal, but if they're providing el-cheapo equipment then it's not much of a deal at all.

In case you might be interested in a wireless unit check this out. I bought this a couple months ago and it works well. Not HD but for the money it is a good deal and is built well.

My trailer also came pre wired for a rear back up camera. So I bought the system that it was pre wired for which is a Furrion system. It is wireless and works the only down side was the small monitor screen. I talked to them at the Goshen rally this year about getting a larger monitor. They said it was in the works but have not check lately to see if it's available. Later RJD

I don't think I'd ever want to do without one after having one for the last few years. If the unit is good quality I don't think the price is too bad - if it includes the labor.

I installed a RVS-770613-213 some 5 years ago on my Roo 21SS. (Got it from Amazon for less than $280 - it's $300 now) I installed it myself and it worked beautifully from day 1 until the day I removed it - just before I traded the 21SS in this last Oct.

I had planned on re-installing it on the new camper but I found out during the walk thru that it came pre-wired (power) for a wireless camera from Furrion. (Funny what you miss when you're checking out a camper trying to decide whether to buy it.)

We ordered the High-Speed Observation System (#FOS48TA-BL). I thought it was a bit pricey at $500 (minus a one-time 10% discount) and the monitor is a lot smaller but it was extremely easy to install and so far it's getting the job done pretty nicely.

A camera / Garmin GPS with 7" screen from thegpsstore.com is around $450.
