That is the reason we have white steel wheels on our unit. I don't think they have a solution to the problem yet!

recall on 2004 and 2005

I spoke to a rockwood dealer about the recall, they said that they think the problem is from a cemical reaction between the steel drum and the alumunim wheel. the way to fix it is to remove the wheel and clean the drum. This sounds like a temporary repair. I think it migth be caused from the expantion and contraction of two different metals. How ever I would like to thank you for posting the recall, I had know idea it was out there. My camper was manufactured in 2005 and sold as a new 2006 model. This is something else to keep an eye on. THANKS AGAIN.

Whoa... good post Steve. Mine has steel, but if it is a corrosion issue, perhaps any trailer owner with alum wheels should be watching.

Whether steel or alum. one should as a matter of course check lug nuts for proper torque as one would tire pressure. Believe it or not trucks and autos should be checked too.
I have the alum wheels model year 2006 and out of curiosity I checked mine and they were good to go. I will check in another 1k of so miles. My last two TTs had alum wheels and I never had a problem with lugs loosening on them.

Just be safe and check often..........

it sounds more like bi-metal contamination not a corrosion problem .I work in a body shop and i've seen a thin sheet of rubber placed between steel and alumunim.
