Renewing License

Hi--don't know if this is where to ask but since I'm new maybe someone can answer--bought a F-150 and a Rockwood Mini--sitting in my driveway. Going to sell my house this spring and set out with the Golden. Lost my wife last May. Have way too many questions but this is one. How do you renew your license when you no longer have an address?

My condolences on your loss, Best Bet is to contact your local DMV .A lot of people are full timers and I'm sure someone will chime in with answer. Welcome from New Jersey.

There's a mail forwarding service I use (MyRVmail.com); they give instructions on how full-timers can establish domicile in FL (where they're located), as well as obtain D/L and insurance, and even registering to vote.

I'm sure there are other ways as well, but I know that one exists.

Arkansas has an eight year Drivers license, $40. also you can buy a three year tag for your truck or MH with no Inspections

It's not just license. Taxes, social security, banks. Pensions. You need some kind of address

First off, sorry for your loss. Americas Mailbox in Box Elder SD has all the information you need on establishing domicile in SD. Very helpful and SD is a very RV friendly state. Their address is good for License, tags, accepted by banks and the Feds. Welcome to the world of full time RVing! We've been on the road for 2 years and love every minute of it.

So very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine. Others have been in same boat and have made it through. I respect them highly. I doubt I could do it.

That said, the Box Elder, SD thing is used by many, and works well for them.

One possible suggestion.........which is what we use.........is to establish your permanent mailing address at one of those Shipping stores, UPS Store, they're all over, different names. Get in good with the folks that run it. Buy an annual mailbox from them, change all your mail to that address. Then just leave them a credit card number on file, and call them every so often and say "I'm now at Address XYZ, please forward my stuff". Works great, but is a bit more difficult if you get packages there. My guys just pitch the extraneous b/s that we get in the mail, put the rest in a Post Office priority mail envelope, and mail it out, charging to my credit card.

IF you stay a long time at any one spot, you can rent a mailbox at a similar location there for not too much. We are in Florida mid December till April 1, so I got a mail drop address there. Easier to get packages, and it's a great place to forward my mail from home location to where I am. IF we travel, I'll just light in one place long enough to get them to mail/forward me my pile of doctor bills! LOL

Even if you use the Box Elder, SD address, you still have to get your stuff forwarded to somewhere.

Basically, what the others have said- you'll always have some kind of address. Be it a mail service, a friend, or whatnot.

Once you're on the road, you just coordinate shipping of your mail to wherever you're staying (or the local post office with General Delivery).

everyone HAS an address, whether you are there very much, or almost not at all...but you HAVE to have an address.

Continue using your former address for just basic 'physical' information required by various sources, license and tag office, etc., but get a po box in the same zip code to actually 'receive' any mail, even if you hardly ever actually check it. So much can be done now without much of any 'physical' need to be anywhere specific.

Sometimes, in certain situations, you just use the address of where you are staying, whether a campground, rv park, friends house, etc., especially for UPS/FEDEX package delivery, and even many rv parks will let you receive your 'mail' at their location/office.

in the short term, you don't 'need' to change ANY address you already have on file with the license/tag office, or other government entities... they don't really care, or 'know', whether you're there, or not.
