Rental RV water tank

I haven't rented a RV for years, but I witnessed something that might make me cringe. At a state park in the redwoods, a German couple in a rented class c was dumping next to us. After they were done they took the dump station water hose usually used to flush your slinky and filled their fresh water tank with it. I tried to warn they but they spoke no english.

So, does anyone who rents sanitize their tanks before use?

I have never rented a camper so I can't actually say. We have had our SP-260 for two years now so knowing what I know I most certainly would sanitize everything. Lol
