Renting your RV

Has anyone ever listed their RV on sites such as RV Share? Wondering if it is good way to make some money, or if it isn't worth the aggravation and possible damage to my RV. Looking for input from anyone with experience in this area. Thanks.

I would vote for "Not worth aggrivation".

Almost every time we take ours out, SOMETHING...small or big....happens and needs repair. I can't imagine having to deal with that stuff if somebody else was doing the damage, or didn't say anything. I guess that's what security deposits are for too, but still.

I have two or three friends that I have offered to let use mine. Only because they are like me and if anything happened to it they would return it repaired or in better condition than they got it.

Go outside to your car, open the drivers door, and slam it closed on your head for about an hour and a half. There. That is pretty much what renting your RV out would feel like.

If I needed 'extra money' that bad, I would just sell the thing outright before I rented it out.

I would agree it's not worth the time or little money you'll get out of it. The money you'll make you'll just have to put back in it for the repairs that are needed after it comes back, if it comes back.

Clearly it's working for some of the site wouldn't exist.

That said, it's not for me. Part of the allure to RVing (and buying new) is that I'm the only one to have used this rig. They're my bed bugs, poops in the toilet, and ouches to it.

There's sites to do that too. Doesn't make either one a good idea.

Remember the first time you pulled a trailer or drove a big rig? A renter is most likely a newbie. Do you really want them learning on your vacation home?

I would NOT rent my RV to anyone, I have seen to many time that people are in the mine set "it's not mine I don't have to take care of it".

My example would be if you work outside your home, take a look at your break room, to people clean up after themselves? few do, others are like the cleaning team will clean it up, after all it is their job.

I would not rent my RV to anyone. I can only think of 2-3 people to whom I would lend it.

It would have to be an old one that I didn't care about anymore for me to rent it out.

I won't even lend my Sunseeker to relatives, including my son, so there is no way I am going to even think about renting it out.

Yeah....NO!

It's my HOME!

Besides...would you REALLY want to crawl back in to your bed after someone else has slept in it (and whatever ) for a couple weeks?
