I re-strung 3 blinds this past season. Guess it was just time for them to fail. Each took at least 2 hours and 1 of them was about 5' foot long and that one took over 3 hours. Got to say they all operate much better now.

1 of them had previously been done incorrectly and that would have accounted for its particular difficulty in operating. Plus I was a bit picky on adjusting the tension in the final step and that added to the time it took. Cheap to fix and they are serviceable

Get this repair kit. Amazon has it. You will need a knitting needle to thread the new lines. We have done a few. An hour + for the first one then perhaps 30 minutes for the others, plus remove/install time.

Got that kit.

It does the job but the string gave me fits. Even with a needle the string ends frayed after going through 2 or 3 holes requiring a sharp scissor cut to make a new blunt end. And if i caught the new blunt end on just 1 hole it would fray again necessitating another scissor cut.

The new string is a better design than the old stuff though as it's got an outer layer and probably makes operation of the shade smoother.

We collapse the blind and push the new line through the entire blind in one motion with the needle. We are trading in the fiver and the new Class C has solid, pull down shares so we will no longer be restringing shades. Happy!

Yeah, tried collapsing and stringing, didnt work well, made the issue worse. Maybe my shade material isn't the same as yours.

Best wishes on your new camper

I've restrung 5 or 6 over the years. The 1st one was a PITA but it got easier with each one. I used some heavier duty string I found at a craft store.

Thought about getting some heavier string, cordage, never did, probably the way to go.

I threw mine away and installed faux wood Venetian blinds. Love 'em.

As a tip to help in restringing the blinds, most strings are made from synthetic material derived from petroleum, heat the tip with a lighter and the threads will melt together to prevent the ends of the string from unraveling.

I bought a better string on ebay that comes in a roll of 300 feet, the string lasted for a little over a year on the last one l restrung, but we live in our RV full time and the blind was open and closed everyday so it lasted pretty good. I use a real fine piece of electrical wire doubled and twisted to make a small loop in one end to feed the string through and pull it through the eyes on the blind, l use rubber bands to keep blinds compressed. The four string blind takes the longest.

I got rid of them and installed roller shades. So much easier to use and I like the look much better.
