Rules on state decal map

Just curious of the opinions on when you get to put a state decal on your state map?
  1. 1 Places you've camped
  2. 2 Places you've traveled through
  3. 3 Places you've lived

I think #1 is the best, but with saying that #2 is fine with me if I stop in that state and tour something, not just passing through on the route. But that is just me and my opinion...

We have to sleep over in the state to put it on the map. Even a quick overnight at a Walmart counts.

Yep, whatever you want it to be. But this is our rules.

I like using the "had to camp at least one night in that State". It challenges us a little more to actually venture out. The map for us is pretty sparse, but we will get there!

I'd definitely go with #2. Also we have a Canadian map above our US map on the back of our trailer.

Where do you get the maps for your signature? Is it a photo of one on the camper?

For camping, #1 is my rule. A camper is for camping so I must camp in the state.

Now when I had my motorcycle, just riding through a state counted because bikes are for riding.

Hi MartiB,
You get the maps at Camping World or any major RV camping store.
Don't know what you mean about signature?

No set rules but our personal rule is --if the camper got set up in a state and we slept in it--it goes on the map. I have visited 41 of the states but my camper map is at 22 or 23. Hope to keep adding to it!

Thanks! The signature is how you sign off the post - like the pix of my TT and days camped etc. See Oakman's post. It looks like the map is part of the signature so I'm guessing it's a photo of the actual map on their trailer?

We don't do a map, but at the first time camping in a new place, we get a small magnet from that place to mount on our stove hood. It's surprising, but we have quite a few that kinda resemble each other as far as layout and type and stuff.

We put them on the hood in the same order we camped in. Its a nice reminder of the times in the camper.
