RV dinette tables

Just curious if anyone has noticed some RV's have tables taller than what you would have in your home? We had a Chateau Class C that had a horseshoe dinette and the table was really tall. My 5'2" short waisted wife hated it and had to sit on a pillow. So, I cut down the aluminum pedestal 2" and made it much better.

Well, now our recently acquired Wildcat Maxx 262RGX with table and chair dinette has the same issue. I measured our dining room table in the house, and it is nearly 2 1/2" shorter than the one in our Wildcat. So, today I took the table apart and cut down the pedestal 2 1/4" and wifey is happy as a clam.

The dinette chairs measure the same distance to the floor on both the RV as our house chairs. Our home table is at 29 3/4" high, whereas the Wildcat table was 32". Really strange that they build them this high. Some of us shorter folks feel odd eating with our hands nearly as high as our shoulders. Amazing how much 2" makes in comfort.

Had to do the same thing in our A-frame. Table was so high it seemed your food was almost up your nose! They must build these things for basketball players.

Glad we aren't the only ones thinking this!
