RV Gutter Spout Guard - Camping World
I've gotta laugh at this. I got a Summer Savings catalog from Camping World and they are trying to cash in on guards for your gutter spouts when you cover your RV. Their add goes like this:
NEW! RV Gutter Spout Guard #108004
Protect your RV cover from gutter spout damage. bla-bla.
Club Sale Price $24.99 Regular Price $27.99
The add doesn't say how many you get for that cost, so I would think it's for each.
I have 10 gutter spouts on my TT. That will cost me $249.90 + tax. WOW.
A container of 3 tennis balls cost $1.97 + tax at Walmart. I can buy a lot of tennis balls for what CW wants.

I love this forum thank you Sir, I have been trying to figure out in my head the best way to cover those when I apply my cover, I was going to cut cardboard and apply but tennis balls here I come...seems like a inexpensive and easy way...good post!

My documentation for my TT says not to use slide out jacks. I guess I need to go buy 6 of them just so I can spend the money.

I just finished the 4th year for my t/b's. Just cut an "X" with a utility knife on the ball and slip them on.

If you read the ad, you get 4 guards for $27.99, regardless, tennis balls are still cheaper. LOL

One swimming pool noodle for $1.00 at dollar store will last you 10years. Just cut into 4-5" lengths and slide over gutter.

I'm looking at the add right now and it doesn't say any thing about how many you get. Unless it does on CW's site.

and I would use these or tennis balls why?
won't the voids in the tennis balls or these items being sold just fill with water, tree parts etc. and get heavy enough to fall off the spouts? I if needed use wooden cloths pegs to have the water run off keeping black streaks away from the trailer side. and I don't know anyone that tall that I would be concerned with walking that close to the trailer that I would been to guard them.
imaging they have to be removed every time you haul. what a waste of time and $$

You use them to protect the cover from damage, when covering the R/V.

And they work. The first time used my Adco cover I used those thingys you tie onto the spouts and I had 5 holes including the thing that sticks out of the slider awning.

I used the swimming noodle 1st year. Still didn't like how the cover sits over roof line. I took spouts off last year and cover sits great. My spout only had one screw and some caulk holding spout on. I think they are designed to easily take off.

Though I've been covering mine since new in '13 with ADCO covers, I'm not so sure it is the right thing to do. I cover it only between October to April.
When I got on the TT to remove the cover and inspect the roof for winter damage I found the dicor across the front has worn through in a couple of places, exposing the strip under the dicor. Plus there are a couple of holes where the dicor has shrunk.
I ordered a 6" x 50' roll of Eternabond and I'm going to clean the roof and cover all the seams.

Received the catalog today. Soon as I saw the gutter guards tennis balls popped in my head. I think I will set up a stand near CW and sell my gutter guards.

CW must have some retired NASA folks working there. There's an old tale (and have no idea if it's true) that NASA spent a few million bucks on research to come up with a pen that would function in zero gravity. Had to be able to write while upside down. Meanwhile, the Rooskies did their own research at a cost of $2.00. They just used a pencil.

That is true. I've seen the show on the science channel several times about it. I think it was on "How It's Made".
I also heard that while the shuttles were flying NASA was looking for 486 cpu's for some of their salellites and the shuttles had several 486 cpu's inside each one. Don't know how much truth there was to that.
