RV Rear Bumper

Question ??? My bumper says do not put anything on the bumper it would void warrenty. But i do see people put reciever hitches on for Bikes or a carry tray. I know we can not put one on to haul a boat or another small trailer. but what about for a bike rake?

Since you don't have any information on what year, make and model of RV you have, I'll assume it is an ultralight trailer. The rear bumper has thin and weak welds, along with a ultralight frame.
Since trailers don't have shocks, the physics of a loaded bike rack bouncing up and down, along with pulling back on the fulcrum, will cause the welds of bumper to fail.
The only truly safe way is to have a receiver welded and braced to the frame. Unfortunately this kind of modification will void the frame warranty.
Manufacturers don't want to be liable for warranty claims when this kind of failure occurs.
Now non-ultralight RVs generally have thicker and stronger frames. They can do this and not have any issues.

You might want to put your RV's information, in your profile or your signature. That way members know what RV you're asking about.

I was on a factory tour, I asked that question. They said if I removed the spare tire and added a bike rack with the same weight there wouldn’t be a problem, but also said to be safe if I needed warranty work to remove the rack and put the spare back on. At the time I had a Rockwood 8289 WS . This was said by the plant manager in front of 30 people. Never did it myself but seen many people doing it.
