Here’s another RV news gem from RV Travel. Russ and Tiña De Maris wrote the story documenting an unfortunate accident at a Newfoundland gas station.
Here’s a summary – RVer needs to dump his waste, sees a hole in the ground, and empties sewage into an underground gas tank.
The official statement from the gas station reads, “An RV driver mistook one of our fuel tank for a dumping station and dumped his black water in the tank. Thankfully an alert customer noticed what was happening and advised our staff. We immediately shut down our regular gas as a result.”

Sounds like this might be where the expression "crappy gasoline" originated.

Around here most underground tanks are now locked to prevent people from parking vehicles over their access and pumping gas out through holes in the bottom of their vehicle. Van's and Class C MH's were supposed to be the favored vehicles for these operations.

Probably 30% or more should never leave the driveway or storage lot. Some have an expensive learning curve, some hurt themselves or others, and some just never learn. BUT they still reproduce and vote.

I've said it before and here again. Some people just shouldn't buy an RV. And your going to see even more of them since the Covid 19 increase of RV Sales. God help us.

Saw first-hand last month why some people should never buy an RV.

First-time owner, had only owned the brand new rig for two hours, in too big a hurry to get into his space before dark, and cut the corner a bit close.

Last I heard the total bill for damages to trailer, fire hydrant, and tow truck costs to lift the trailer off the fire hydrant and its protective post was in excess of $25,000.

Hey, one of those wreckers (looks like a "Rotator") costs just short of a million $$. Have to pay for them someway.

I'm thinking a couple of old "farm boys" could have moved it off the hydrant for a lot less than the cost of the wrecker alone.

RV's are not for everyone. Most that are not, are aware of it and will not even stick their toe into that water. But some family and friends that I thought would fit that group recently have jumped in with both feet and bought RV's partly because of the covid thing. I try to help, when asked, so to not come across as a mister know it all. But surprisingly they are learning about how they work with a little help and just trying. I am glad for them as I know how common sense and self reliance seems to be a rare trait this days. I am happy to help anyone that is interested in what I grew up with in RVing. Which is independents, self reliance, a sense of adventure and even inventing new ways to improve your home away from home.

well........suffice to say, they most likely won't be invited back after this mishap!

Maybe not but you can present them with a HUGE fuel bill for all the gasoline they just caused to be pumped out and replaced.

That's a good one.

Did anyone open the link to the story? It seems some thought the author of the story was posting fake news. For the life of me I cannot remember where have I heard that one before.
