Satellite loss of signal

We have a Winegard In-Motion Dome dish with Directv service. On a recent trip, while watching a ball game on a lower channel (4, 6, 8, etc. - all local channels)the picture froze (Loss of signal). Called Directv, ran test for about a hour, still not lower channels. All the high number channel (200, 300, 400, etc.) come in clear. Any ideas as to what may be me issue? Result of the last visit to RV dealer about a dish issue for $ 585.00 they were good enough to change the Cat 6 Splitter box. Hoping to avoid the same problem. Any help will be appreciated!

Yeah, my signal went out Saturday night. But, it came back after about 2hrs. The pouring rain storm was nasty!! It's been raining here almost every night. DirecTV is nastier than normal with lousy reception even when it isnt raining-- pixelation is terrible. My contract is up in February. I'm going to Dish NW then.

Do you subscribe to the national feed for travelers from DirecTv or still use your home address and your local channels? If you still use your home address for your locals, you may have traveled to "the outer fringe" for your spot beam for your locals. You may have been right on the edge but, any minor interference (clouds/rain, sunspot activity etc.) was just enough to cause the loss of that signal. The rest of your channels were ok because they are beamed down on a much wider (national) beam.

Been with DTV for 11 years now, I can tolerate the temporary loss of signal, but in this case it has been four days! Must be some other issue. I must agree that DTV is weak on the technical service side. Most operators can't speak english and it's obvious they are reading from a script by the questions they ask. If you are lucky enough to get a real tech, they can usually help you out. Thanks.

Good point. I thought of that but we were only about 90 miles from home. I checked when we got home on Sunday, still no lower channels. Guess it might be time for another dealer repair vasectomy, I mean visit! LOL!

I have used Dish for the last several years and love it. Before buying a satellite I researched and it seemed Dish had a better signal setup with the satellites, both eastern and western arcs. For $7 a month more I can view all my home channels. Only problem I have had was when I put it too close to my trailer and my dish couldn’t find the satellites.

Have directv with a home account never lost a signal except in bad weather. Drove from Iowa to Yellowstone no issues.
