We camp in northern Idaho with no cell phone or internet reception available. My husband has a recent health issue and we want to have ability to call for help in emergencies. Any recent recommendations on satellite phones/service?

I haven't tried it but I have read Garmin Inreach is a good affordable product for satellite communication. I don't think they are voice just text and 911.

I vote for the Garmin Inreach. Bought mine for backcountry backpacking trips but have used it so my wife can track me with I travel to west coast. Plus depending on the service plan you can Sat. Text, map and track your routes, SOS and they have additional add on services like emergency services such as search and rescue or something like life flight.
