To me - you are close to that magic number when you probably will want on the hottest of days - evenings won't be a problem but the heat of the day will be a struggle to stay below 80 I would think - especially if you have a lot of open doors.

The second best reason I can think of - you can run the bedroom only in the evening and keep the rest of the coach cool and subsequently reduce the noise.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Get it. You don't always need to use it, but will help when it is very hot and sunny. It also gives you a built-in backup if one fails.

All good

Sorry you ordered a 30 when a 50 was really what you needed. I understand about that heavy cord. Usually the elec post is at/near the rear of the site. My 5er connection is at the rear of the coach. I have a very long cord (that may be needed one day) that is stored in the pass-thru at the front of the coach. Coiling the cord for storage can be fun in cool weather too.

One thing to consider especially with pets onboard. A second ac would allow you to keep camping if the main ac malfunctions as ours did. We went to dinner with friends were gone about 2 hours and came back to a trailer with no air. The 2 dogs tongues were hanging out and in heat distress. Outside temps were in 90's, and this was in Lancaster, pa. We had to cut our camping trip short and return home after only just a few hours of arriving. I got ac fixed, it was a capacitor, on Monday and had second air installed at same time so we would never get caught again without air. Now we live in florida, second air is a blessing with the extreme humidity and heat. You don't need it all the time but it brings the temperature down much faster upon arriving at campground.
My only other comment is if you have the option is on the heat pump. I had one two rv's ago. I really liked it it was quieter than the noisy furnace is, you could watch TV without having to turn up volume every time the furnace came on. Unfortunately my last rv. didn't come with the heat pump. But if this ac goes I would have a 15k heat pump installed. .

Thanks for everyone's replies.

Second A/C will be ordered as an option. The "heat pump" was not an option...at least I did not see it on the order form.

Hopefully will be ordering our Heritage Glen 272RLS tomorrow.

Heat pump option is expensive. Mine failed after 3 years. Luckily I had purchased an extended warranty from Dometic. $1500 for 15,000 BTU model. Maybe Dometic has fixed the bugs, but I have had regular Dometic ACs on various RVs for over 25 years with no problems. Heat pump version is problematic and expensive.

We run our heat pump when we're plugged in so we can heat without using gas.

So is it just an electric heating element?

No, a heat pump reverses the cooling cycle and uses the refrigerant to heat till the outside air drops to around 40º. Below 40º elect heat strips or a gas unit does the job

Actually, we have the Dometic heat pump and it will use the heat pump for heat until outdoor temps drop to 30F. It then switches to the furnace for heat and returns to the heat pump when outdoor temps hit 35F. Living in Central Florida, we only get a little use out of it when we travel in the spring and fall but it works great.

Our 2012 Flagstaff 8528RKWS only has one and it cools just fine. On our trailer we have no need for the 2nd ac. Ours is ducted and works great even in FL from Nov until Feb or Mar as well as in NC in the summer.

Honestly, the single A/C in our old 5er worked fine also. On the hotter days it would run constantly though to keep it down in the high 70's. Once the sun went down then we could get the temp down around 72.

But, have the option to get a 2nd one and it does not sound like a bad idea.
