Selling your Camper

I just sold my travel trailer using Craigs List. A dealer will only give you 80% of low wholesale value at best.

Also try offerup or facebook marketplace.
I would never consider a consignment deal with CW.

We sell all our RVs ourselves. Make more $$$, but you have to be willing to put up with all the lookers and extra hassle of doing it yourself.

Tried trading in my Roo 23SS on my Flagstaff 27BESS. Salesperson wouldn't deal. I wound up selling the Roo for over $2500 more than the dealer would allow on a trade, which was more than enough for us. All this happened on Craigslist.

Same thing for me. Sold my 23SS for twice what the dealer would give me for a trade-in.

CW

I prefer to have as little contact w/ CW as possible. The nearest me in Fort Worth TX, is beyond worthless. They have added more pet toys and less supplies. I ask for simple items, they are either out or suggest driving 20 miles to another dealer that might carry it. EX-door struts and low water caps. They carry 1 of each size and have been out the one I need for 2 months. I will not go back.

Selling

We sold our 2001 Layton last year on craigslist to a very nice family who absolutely loved it. No problems at all, and everyone walked away happy. We had to deal with the "tire kickers" and no shows, but sometimes that's what you get when you deal with directly with the public.

Happy with a Craigslist MH purchase

I purchased my MH a year ago on Craigslist from a individual that lived 300 miles away. I found an app online that allowed me to search multiple Craigslist locations at once which made the searching easier. Overall it was more work for me and probably the seller but we both benefited from the sale.

I sold both my TT's by parking them in a busy location and putting a "For sale" sign or two on them. Both sold in a week or two for exactly what I was asking.

In one case I had a friend who owned an exavating company on a busy highway so we parked it out front. In the second case, a local hardware store had a vacant lot next door along thge highway and I told them I'd give them $xx dollars if I sold it.

In both cases we both made money. Craigs list is a good option too, as you could keep an eye on your trailer at home. Security is always a concern.

Dealers will give you half of what you can sell it for (maybe), newspaper ads are expensive and temporary, and Ebay charges a fat commission.

I think parking it in a public place on a busy highway or Craigs List are your best options.

I'm a big fan of Craigslist. Just sold my daughter's car using it. In the past I have sold a few cars ranging in price from $32K on down. Also sold our first TT which we bought new and quickly realized it was not the right one.
There sometimes is an attempted scam or two but if the vehicle is priced right, you will get a good outcome. Be honest with yourself as to value and you likely will get a buyer.
Probably could double the CW offer and be just about right

I sold my trailer on craigslist in 90 minutes. I got what I wanted and sold it to a great family. A month later I realize I may have sold it to low but I bought it low and I know it went to a good home.

Notice the big red dealership sign in that guys video? Maybe they are, maybe they will be around a long time but that dealership hates the competition.

Like many others, I have sold all my RVs through a combination of craigslist and parking it near the road on our property with a for sale sign. We live on a main road and anything we have put up for sale on the end of our driveway pretty much sells itself.

I've been fortunate in that most people are nice to deal with, but have had to put up with people looking for something in new condition at a used price. I've been told that "this isn't worth what you are asking" and have politely suggested those people go to a dealer and look at new RVs since that is what it sounds like they really want.

I always include a list of details about the camper (year, make, model, anything that's wrong with it) as I want to be fair as a seller.

But you will make more money if you sell it yourself and it usually isn't that hard.
