Sewer Hook up

I have a quick question? While at a RV Park and hooked up to the sewer do you leave the black tank open or closed till you need to empty due to being full or your leaving the park? The last few times i left it closed till I left except when i had more family using the bathroom and or more water was used in the grey tank???? just asking, Thank you for any tips

Leave closed till you need to empty it. Once you empty, and you know you'll be gone away awhile, I'd flush for when I come back, so the tank will be ready for use again. Happy trails, enjoy!

Sewer Hook up

Agree: Closed. Here’s why:
If Black Tank valve is open, all fluids will simply run out and everything NOT fluid will stay in the tank, stuck. In time, the “NOT Fluids” will build up & dry out, developing the dreaded Poo &Paper Pyramid, which will cause a severe and stinky blockage.
You do not want that!
Keep black tank closed until at least 2/3 full. Then dump into the campground’s sewer connection.
Happy Camping!

Closed with LOTS of water. In fact, run lots if water in the black tank just before you dump so you get max flow.
If you leave the tank open, the liquid waster will flow out but solid waste (fecal matter and tissue) will stack up and become extremely difficult to remove. Water and a tank treatment will dissolve solids so they flow out as liquid.
WATER IS A BLACK TANK'S BEST FRIEND!

ALWAYS closed until ready to dump.
Use lots of water with #2.

You got good advice here. Also, I recommend the 10-second flush with every #2. Ensures you have plenty of water in tank when you're ready to dump, which should be when tank is at least 3/4 full, preferably slap-full.

Like everyone else said, closed. I also leave the gray tank closed so I have plenty of water to flush out the hose.
